Wota IS the shortened version of wotaku. It doesn't refer only to idol wota. Idol wota may call themselves just 'wota' but there are also manga wota, computer wota and anything else wota. The only reason why that wiki article and the news article claims that wota refers only to idol is because of all the fucking morning musume fans.
