Part 1 was great. It's not Ryukishi's best writing, but it's better than Umineko and Higurashi part 1, which is what it should be compared to.
Also, I thought it looked great, not just by Ryukishi standards but in general. The music was good but a tad disappointing, I hope it gets better.

There is no "default personality", they were born like that. Miyao is fronting most of the time because he's the stronger, more outspoken personality and they decided to set it up that way, but that has nothing to do with their body. They were born at the same time.

They could still be male, but everything is pointing to the opposite. Miyao's complexes, Meow's comments about it that all but confirm it, and their girly shape itself. I think the dad obviously knows but considers him a son because he's insistent on being treated like a guy.

It's a faction where biological sex doesn't mean much, socially speaking. And Toujirou must be well aware of his kid's DID, considering his P3 level is through the roof. If he's always acting like Miyao and Meow herself has to imitate Miyao to avoid being exposed as weirdo, it's only natural that his dad considers him a guy.

It reminds me of the Midori from Higanbana whose soul was slowly eaten by a youkai and wouldn't technically die because he just took small bites. It's similar to how Naima is only getting slight brain damage as a result.

The Higanbana parallels are actually even stronger than the RGD or Higurashi parallels, which was really surpising. Chloe is straight up Yukari, bullies included, and Chloevil is Yukari after eating the thistle of vengeance. The whole situation with the "blues" and "greens" reminds me of how Higanbana described bullying as an utopia where everyone can be happy if someone is sacrificed and made into the bullied kid. Except in this case, it's one single kid that is bred to be a winner while everyone else is bred with shit genes and brainwashed with propaganda so they consent to join the AAI and become food for Chloe's ego.
