Today went pretty good going up from a coupe of days of a bit lower retention. I have decrease my new cards a bit but that's just because I have no cards and I'm struggling to find new words. Right now I'm just anime mining news videos getting a lot of news vocab. Think I can already read newspaper without a big problem but in a year it'll be perfect.

Don't know if I mentioned it but I am also working through a name deck. It has about 10000 cards and is ordered by frequency. I imagine that will help as well with reading newspaper.

Only some of the shows I consumed are chink subs. I mostly fix the mistakes but sometimes I don't notice or just ignored it.

KKLC is just another kanji study thing. The point of those is making you associate a kanji with a meaning/familiar concept so you either try to recall they keyword as KKLC intends it or write the kanji for the keyword. If you think you are ready to learn words you can either do a core deck or do anime mining right away (guide here: https://www.animecards.site/)) and just skip the kanji study which is optional in the first place. Learning words completely out of context with a dumb list like in KKLC is really pointless and won't help you I think.

I don't know how kklc works because I ignored it completely, if it gives you one meaning for each kanji and teach you to recognize it by mnemonics or stories, then you can do it while ignoring everything, if not, just do RTK, which I would recommend you to do Lazy Kanji first, when you're done with it go through vocab decks that are kanjified, that way you will get used how to read some kanjis and then after you have maybe around 1k of vocab start reading ln or vn or whatever you want

I did KKLC using only the important words. You are doing it to learn kanji, not vocabulary, so I think it is fine.

I learned 2192 kanji with 3447 vocab words. If I had done all the vocab it would have been 2269 kanji with 7138. I should probably go back and learn the kanji without important vocab, but I haven't bothered yet.

I did it differently than most people. I just took a deck of the important vocab and learned to write them all. I didn't study any kanji by themselves and didn't use any mnemonics. I'm not sure a beginner could do it this way though.

my issue with quake style games is two fold one i am a genetically fucked bitch whose wrists simply cannot withstand sustained play so i cannot actually practice enough to get good at it. two i find the gameplay inherently boring. i know there is deep strategy to the games where you have to keep note of the enemy spawn and item spawn timers but i just do not find that fun.
