Becoming a popular seiyuu with steady career is hard and you get paid peanuts compared to normalfag TV. Becoming a popular actress is hard, but becoming famous can be just as quick if you get chosen as the MC of a hirudorama or something. In that case your audience is the majority of the population (unlike few sweaty otaku with anime), and your payment reflects that.

If seiyuu were that popular among general population, Hirano Aya case wouldn't have happened; Haruhi at its peak was so fucking popular that she got to appear on mainstream TV shows and it still wasn't enough for her. She pretty much abandoned anime just to be a third-rate tarento, appearing on random variety shows as a token female guest.

Guess other game companies just don't want her. Her biggest issue is while she is one of SNK's mascots, she's only really popular in Japan, so you can't really put her in a game that you want to appeal to western audiences too.

I also have a theory her being of Ainu heritage might deter game companies from adding her in out of fear it could promote backlash.

After a Konosuba stream with Amamiya a little while ago I came to realize just how strategically they photograph her from mostly only like 3 angles to hide the shape of her nose. Sawashiro is a top tier seiyuu who works at all fields so comparing her to all the flavor-of-the-year idol seiyuu (whose popularity will plummet far before they reach Sawashiro's age) is actually offensive. When you look at her career from all angles, she is pretty much the next Hayashibara and I don't see any other female seiyuu even near that level.

Sawashiro is famous amongst otaku but almost a non-entity in the public eye. If Mizuki Nana had Sawashiro's seiyuu career then i think we would have the next Hayashibara.

Flying Dog dropped Aoi halfway through 2017, presumably after her Tokowaka no Kuni mini-album under-performed. They were the ones who handled her official fanclub so naturally that went down too.
That album was entirely recorded using samples of Aoi's voice so the recording for it was probably more expensive than usual. There are interview in which they go over the convoluted setup they had with multiple microphones.
It was a more "artsy" project so to speak, which left some of the more otaku portions of her fanbase out in the cold and sort of confused. Check the comment section for her "Les Etoiles" music video if you want examples.

The "official" take was that Aoi had already achieved everything she wanted as a singer with that team and was moving on, but that's obviously how typical tatemae bullshit.
A few months later she was hired by Columbia Records and she has been continuing her music career with them since then. She is doing better under Columbia overall, her MVs get a ton of views and she has a orchestral concert set for next month.

Sugita appreciates his fans because he knows the customer's perspective. Back when he was a rookie and coacted with seiyuu he liked from galge and other stuff, some of them were like "I don't even remember that role" or "nothing good ever came of that, the recordings were hard and it gave me weird obsessive fans". It was a huge shock for him, so he never wanted to give a similar experience to his own fans.

A recent example of that is Kuwahara Yuuki who loved him in Gintama and Starry Sky (and probably the countless BLCDs of his too since she is a fujoshi) and she couldn't hold her horses when she finally got to meet him on Naria Girls.
