Unless they somehow censor the graphical rape scenes for PG-13 or buy new character sprites from pajeet, and they'd never buy new characters sprites from pajeet, it's at least $50 for the whole set. The intro as a whole is kind of lame compared to its Higurashi and Umineko counterparts, except for the brief sequence from anon's screenshot above where Okonogi is talking to the major general. Miyao's character really irritated me and I almost fell asleep during the actionshit. We'll just have to see what happens in the actual demo or final release since I know Ryukishi loves to turn things upside-down.

Also, the production value has increased a lot. More assets in this 20 minute slice than in 2 hours of Umineko. I'm not sure if I like that.

Only some years later did retry to read it and finally got hooked after suffering through that boat start. In retrospective, it did a great job at introducing and developing the characters. But at that time it was a pain as a reader.

Ciconia looks good. Technically pretty good. It does a good job at setting up the scenario, the ulterior reasons of military higher ups, characters introduced, a taste of battle (knowing it's a simulation)... Pretty good for a demo. I even hope the final work won't follow such a fast action pace or I'll get exhausted.

I distinctly think the demo is a bait-and-switch. The pyon thing is too on the nose, the characters are bizarrely written, there's the sense that something is off. After Higu, Umi, Higanbana, and RGD, I think this is a classic case of trolling the reader.
