Im new to fumos, but should i buy an Aya fumo now or should i wait until more fumos are released? Recently, a few days after Aya went out of stock on Akiba-Hobby it got restocked with both Yuyuko and Aya (though yuyuko got sold out quickly in less than 2-3 days). is there a chance like that happening in the future again, or should i stop waiting and quickly snag Aya? I would say go for the Aya if you want her, major re-releases typically happen only twice a year, at either reitaisai, akiba hobby though generally gets small amounts of stock from the reruns throughout the year. So there is a chance, but it's not necessarily the largest chance. I would say think it over for just a little bit and see if you'd really want aya over yuyuko, and then make your ultimate decision off of that

What are the happiest fumos?

Are there still no comprehensive custom fumo making guides? When I visited these threads a few months ago zerokonbu had made a short video, but that was it. You'd think with all the customs you see on Twitter and elsewhere there'd be one by now.

I've always wanted to try making one but I don't know the slightest thing about sewing or the equipment I'd need.

If i had to hazard a guess its due to a variety of reasons. Including but not limited to; the materials one can choose for the clothing/hair/accessories, the sheer variety of designs that one could be trying to do because of how diverse the cast is of touhou, design wise, making any one guide (other than general, broad strokes ideas) useless for all others besides that one character, the fact that a large portion of the guide would be composed of simple stuff that doesn't necessarily need a fumo specific guide due to the sheer abundance of guides for it already (namely clothing making), and/or the fact that the language barrier, combined with the general nature of japanese doujin subcultures actively dissuades that kind of behavior. I'll repost my guide on how I made my Yuugis again though if you'd want.

addendum to my previous post, I would say don't worry about knowing how to sew, as hand sewing is quite simple and easy, I self-taught myself when making my first Yuugi
as for materials that I specifically used, I used a jersey knit cloth for the clothing, as its strong, and soft, and easy to work with. for hair you could use minky like I did, however, do note, its much softer than normal fumo hair, as such, if you want a more true to form fumo hair, use a soft felt. other supplies you'd need are fabric scissors, a set of needles, threads to match your fabric colors, fabric glue (use this only when you cannot sew something) measuring tape, seam/thread ripper, and if you are wanting the eyes to be a different color, fabric paint and brushes for that

Also for removing clothing and hair, a pair of scissors is all you need. Lastly the cuffs were simply just white cloth wrapped in a circle, with the chain stitched in (i used seven notches), that was then stitched into the hand.
And that is how I made my second Yuugi fumo (which is my preferred one of the two)

also to add on a bit, for a base I used flan, but you can use anyone you want, and if need be you will have to paint the eyes using fabric paint. also for removing the fumo clothing, you can easily bisect it with scissors and remove it that way, you could remove it without destroying it, it'd just take more finesse, as there are 2 "anchor stitches" where the belly button would be, and on the back, if you sever those, the clothes should be able to come off easily enough
As for removing the hair, I basically just gave flan a haircut, using scissors to remove the hair down to the scalp
