Core 6k doesn't suck, neither does core 10k, and it's actually really good for mining.

If you find a word while mining and want to add a card of it, it probably already exists in core 6k/10k. So you can simple go grab the pre-made card and re-schedule it with 2 clicks.

The only problem with the existing core 10k decks is they all look like fucking ass. Seriously, they are so ugly and the example pictures are garbage too. But that's something you can easily fix with some formatting. I have one of the most sleek and elegant 10k decks without a bunch of extra bullshit information you'll never use.

There are basically 2 versions of the core 10k deck that can be found online. One of them is the yellow bullshit that I just posted. The bottom of the cards are filled with a bunch of bullshit that's never gonna help you with anything, the pictures are either low res or don't make any sense, and it's just gross to look at.

The version you're talking about is less ugly but still pretty bare bones. Also the audio is super fucked when you get into the latter half of it, I think the guy just ran everything through TTS. When we are talking about core 10k, we are talking about the extra 4k cards not included in 6k. And those last 4k cards are the real shitty ones.

Reading through Genki, Tae Kim, listening to comprehension tests + shows, talking to natives on discord and doing Core 10k for a year has brought me to an N2 level of comprehension. While no single component alone will get the job done, out of everything I would say that Anki / Core has been the greatest contributing factor to my overall comprehension.

You can't pass n1 without knowing a fair bit of Japanese. True, the bar is low in terms of how much shit you actually have to get correct (iirc it's 60% points per section or around that, been awhile). You're looking at it the wrong way. You're assuming that all of those sections weigh equally in terms of difficulty.

Listening is much harder than anything else since it is a real time event, and reading is only hard because of the time limit. You could be equally skilled in all sections and still your listening / reading score would be lower than the rest. It's just the nature of the test.

If you didn't have a decent comprehension of Japanese, you would not have scored 74. It'd be a lot lower.

Oh by the way cool new thing I have figured out how to do anime mining on the Switch.
Most games that I tried (not all) seem to support capturing the last 30 seconds of game video. That I can quickly access through FTP and use to make my Switch anime cards. i'm definitely better than i was 10 months ago but my progress is so laughably slow compared to other people here. the only semi-good thing is that i'm making more progress than normals on reddit who talk about "learning 500" kanji in a year.

A lot of those kanji are words in Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Although a lot is relative since 300 single kanji words is still 10% of kanji you want to learn to be literate, only 1% where you need 30,000 words to approach an average native. The other 1700 kanji they learn without words is just mental masturbation until they learn words using them.
