Your guess is good as mine. I don't think Mafia stuff is that popular in Japan. For instance, this may sound like an outlandish example, but Baccano barely has any presence in the mainstream otaku community in Japan. As far as I can see, RGD wasn't exactly popular because that kind of stories isn't really a best seller in nipland, although it was fair enough. Also, some nips were still angry after Umineko ending, so they held a grudge and didn't bother reading RGD.

I've actually thought about making an Umineko game but it would be really dumb and would almost certainly not work. But the idea would be that there's be a "detective" player and a "gamemaster" player. The detective would want to collect red truths, but the gamemaster has an element of control over what truths are revealed. So maybe a detective could investigate a room and the GM is forced to decide if there's any people there. Or the detective could ask the GM to say something in red and maybe the GM is forced to answer yes or no. At the end of the game the detective has to provide a solution that doesn't contradict any red truths, and then the GM has to provide a differing solution. If neither has a solution then it's a logic error and the detective wins, if the GM has a solution that differs from the detective (or the detective has no solution but the GM does) then the GM wins. So basically the detective has to push the GM for red truths in such a way that narrows it down to only one solution.
Yeah it's stupid and probably will end up as an unfun, unplayable mess but I want to try it at some point when I'm not working on anything else

James Tomitake could be Tomitake's father, who became a mafia boss in the RGD timeline and never had a kid. But they look way too similar, so it's probably just a cameo.

Why do so many people think Kinzo planned to kill the Italians and treat it as canon, even though it's explicitly shown that this is all Yasu's interpretation of the events and she was never there to witness it? Believing it means destroying the whole concept of the theatergoing authority (which isn't only used by will but also Battler, Lambda, Bern, Featherine and even Bernkastel in Higurashi). It also means that Kinzo has actually deluded himself to the point of completely altering his own memories, which is just absurd, and he has no reason to lie to himself anyway. It would also mean that Yasu/Clair somehow knows the objective truth about every single fact in the universe.

Why do people treat the happy Kinzo from EP8 as an obvious lie and don't even consider the possibility of it being the truth? Battler admits that the Halloween party was a fantasy he made up and everyone's personalities were exaggerated, but when it comes to KINZO alone he is adamant that this is more or less how he behaved in private with his family, back when Battler was a young kid.

That's because the gameboard is a scenario written by Yasu based on how they think things would play out. That's why you would make sure the detective has ways to force truths. Like with Erika's detective powers in Episode 5. I did think about having different characters, so different detective characters would have different ways of forcing truths (Battler can demand the GM to say something in red, Erika could use packing tape or something). And then I'd probably have it so different witches have different handicaps, like they have certain obligations they have to do that end up giving red truths as well. So I'm not sure exactly how this would work but Beato could have a mechanic based around "magic scenes" where she has to make a magic explanation about each twilight, but the magic explanation has to hold some clue. Like maybe at least one part of the magic explanation is true but you don't know which. And maybe Bern is obligated to make purple truths about each twilight, or maybe the detective is allowed to question NPCs in order to get purple truths from them.

And if I ever do start working on this I'll definitely post about it here. But don't get your hopes up it's just an idea I've had at this point
