I remember the times before the split. Enough said.

You think the hijacks were a problem? That's what newfags of /a/ want to think. The "problem" were the actual /jp/-content threads making up the majority of /a/. The actual reason they trolled moot into split was, AFAIR, Utawarerumono game mechanics discussion (oh, sorry, he didn't need to be trolled, he's just a faggot like that).

A brief synopsis of /a/'s thread.

Moot enters, and everyone expects the usual one-post-then-gone thread. Surprisingly, he stays, and even announces that /jp/ is the worst board. People bombard him with questions and requests, and he ignores all but one; he lengthens the posting limit. Anon rejoices, no more image dumps! Then users get suspicious no one has been banned and the thread has not been stickied, and they ask to be banned as proof. The bans do not occur, and there is only one answer: this is not the real Moot. Users then realize the posting update is probably a terrible idea. Moot is a faggot. "Where does Touhou belong?" discussion. 5.

Same here, but I think I'll give up /a/ for good soon. It used to be decent late at night (like 1-4 am PST) but it hasn't been that way for months. The fact that "night shift" /a/ seriously discusses Naruto and Bleach all the time now pretty much killed the board for me.

In all honesty, I have been on /jp/ far more often of late than /a/; but every so often I've managed to participate in a successful thread about something like Nanoha or JoJo's (awhile back I was in a thread where we actually discussed Touhou in a reasonable, civil fashion). But other than that, /a/ really has been pretty much intolerable too much Trolladora and Bleach/Naruto. The really sad thing is, I'd like to say that a fair portion of us in /a/ don't even start or really participate in those threads, it's just that the amount of trolls are so overwhelming and persistent that it gives us the appearance that we really enjoy talking about the shit in a manner befitting of a 15 year-old.

In 2004-2005 I went to /a/ and found out about good, more obscure (in the English-speaking wold) series like Nanoha and Utawarerumono. moot wanted /a/ to stay pure (read: animu and mango), and he doesn't seem to like VNs, doujin games(such as touhoes), so he made a board for all that he found offtopic, but was posted often on /a/.

Many of us gladly moved and welcomed /jp/ as our new home. /jp/ may not be perfect, but I'll take it anyday if I had a choice between /a/ and /jp/.

It doesn't surprise me much that moot doesn't like /jp/, as it's all that he didn't want in /a/, but for many of us /jp/ is a very entertaining board which we enjoy lurking and posting on. I have no idea how many of you actually go to /a/, but a lot of people have stopped going to /a/ regularily and just moved to /jp/ as it's more close to their interests(such as VNs for example). Those posters saying /jp/ trolls /a/ are probably mostly untrue, I expect some trolls to frequent /a/ too, but /a/ can troll itself just fine. I don't even go to /a/, yet I watch plenty of animu. The discussion quality is too low for me to bother checking it, and the board moves too fast to follow it, a situation akin to /b/, but not as bad.
