Day 6 - Less Anki and Less Laziness
Today hasn't been all that great for Chinese. Today I got really lazy and just didn't immerse much at all nor work on pinyin as much as I should have. However, I think I'm going to hold off on anki for a bit and just focus on hammering it down and fine some useful videos on YouTube.

I am seeing myself fall into the trap of "I'll do this tomorrow", but then I say the same thing tomorrow. So, in order to get back on track with what I need to do, I finally finished adding all of my tasks in habitica. Now I feel more motivated to get things done and not let myself die over and over again lol.

Tomorrow will be a much better day. I'm going to get off of the phone at night and go to bed. And I am going to wake up early in the morning and start my day off right.

Been "learning" Japanese for two years now. My production is still super trash to the point I still don't feel comfortable writing this post in Japanese.. i have been just playing vn's (nukige) and reading eromanga intermixed with a bit of core6k, but no new words so basically just reviewing the 4.2k~ cards I've viewed. my reading really isn't bad, mainly based on my innate ability to understand the dialogue. I really only ever cared for djt guide and what it espoused as far as learning methods. Haven't been here in years, can someone advise me on what I should be doing to get back into the swing of things at a rigorous/academic level?

tl;dr pls spoonfeed me advice, I've lost a lot of drive since the only thing I use Japanese for I can do well

Muramasa is legitimately "difficult" to read in the sense that it uses more obscure words, longer sentences, and stranger sentence patterns than most games. Hi. I don't know japanese. I just learned about "Yojijukugo" (4 character compounds). I was wondering how possible it is to modify an existing one and have the new one have a meaning that will be immediately understood.

For example, there's this one I like: 人馬一体. It means unity of a horse and its rider. If I change the second character so that it is 人剣一体 will it mean "unity of a weapon and its wielder" or will people just go like "what the fuck does that made up thing mean?"?

I will never do anything in my life as difficult and boring for as prolonged a period of time as RTK. I put myself on a 2 minute timer to copy/modify a story and then to visualize that story for each new kanji. Some kanji would take more than 2 minutes, so learning 25 kanji a day it took me an average of an hour to learn them.

this is so logical and wise. plus drilling all radical/“primitive” structures. this strategy truly beats all others. through doing this i literally have only encountered around 200~ kanji that are genuinely difficult to decipher from other similar looking ones, and that number is even less when i have context.

making a personalized deck where you show yourself the similar looking kanji you’ve encountered and have to point out which one is which by looking at the radicals or whatever, would take WAY less time than going through all 2000+ needlessly.

even writing can be practiced as a regular part of word reviews if you really want to get good at that. just copy the words you’re reviewing, doing each kanji via their radicals, until you can write those kanji off head. only giving special focus to the ones that are difficult to remember.

I'm still fairly new to learning Japanese and I'm coming up to a period of travel where I'm going to spend ~1 hour per day standing in a train due to lack of seats. Today hasn't been all that great for Chinese. Today I got really lazy and just didn't immerse much at all nor work on pinyin as much as I should have. However, I think I'm going to hold off on anki for a bit and just focus on hammering it down and fine some useful videos on YouTube.

I am seeing myself fall into the trap of "I'll do this tomorrow", but then I say the same thing tomorrow. So, in order to get back on track with what I need to do, I finally finished adding all of my tasks in habitica. Now I feel more motivated to get things done and not let myself die over and over again lol.

Tomorrow will be a much better day. I'm going to get off of the phone at night and go to bed. And I am going to wake up early in the morning and start my day off right.
