Narratively Yasu discarding a personality goes counterpoint to all the thematics of Umineko - her creating a powerful witch personality to hide the truth is completely bonkers, and her toying with an amnesiac Battler is simply stupid.

The thing is, the events Rokkenjima prime were never meant to be a mystery for the reader to solve. After all, it was just a slaughter fueled by greed. Not a mystery, but a tragedy. Just like how real life murders aren't puzzles for people to solve to make themselves feel smart. The only one who had any business searching for the truth of that day was Ange, who was directly affected by it. The only mysteries we're tasked with solving are those that take place on the game board. Beato sent out the message bottles in the hopes that someone would be found by someone who might be able to understand her. That's why our job is to figure out the truth behind Beatrice and the stories she presents.

Really It's just a matter of preference. Pic related shows original, PS3, and Steam sprites, from left to right. Just pick whichever look you prefer and go with it. The PS3 patch also includes voice acting (which is fantastic), backgrounds, and CGs. Personally, it's what I'd recommend.

I know that most people don't like Steam sprites and I'm not totally conviced either, but I have to say the chosen artstyle fits Umineko really well.

The faces are not too clean, even the hairs are quite messy. You can see some wrinckles here and here. And the eyes show more depths.
People look older too.

The only thing I find stupid is the chests biggest than ever for no reason.
I played with the original sprites but I wouldn't mind the steam ones.
