I wish there was a way in DDR to switch between singles and doubles in the same set if you are playing by yourself. IIDX and Pump can do this, but with the way songs are locked between the two different modes I don't see this happening. It'd also be nice if doubles was just the same price as default and you didn't have to unlock everything twice.

And that's where the problem lies. ITG pads are still better than modern DDR pads, and that game came out over 14 years ago. The fact that 19s are FCable on tech that hasn't changed much in the last 20 years is a miracle. Andamiro had to revamp their pads when they introduced holds and then redesign them several times because of every other chart since Fiesta having fuckloads of bracket spam. Hell, even IIDX cabs stopped having 100/100g setups by default around the time HS/DD came out.

It's hard to say what modern DDR pads feel like, there are three A cabs I play on and all of them feel completely different. Two are great and one of them has been modded to the point where it's extremely sensitive but feels totally awful to play on.
I kinda wish the mechanics would fucking leave them alone and not mod them though. I liked when one of the locations I played at got a second new cab and it hadn't been screwed with yet.

I'm not really an old school player. I've been playing for 10 years but only somewhat seriously since A came out. I do like older mixes like Extreme and 4thPlus, but I feel neither of them are as good as A has been.
I also tend to use the bar most of the time.

Most of the arcade releases in the past 15 years have been PC based and are playable in some form or another. Either cracked versions of the games exist or there are simulators.
