Basically, Reimu's mind/soul was stuck in Hell, and she slipped through reality unconsciously so that her body would also be in Hell. This is why a mind-based prison, Avici, doesn't have a proper effect on her. The barrier, too, would definitely not stop her. Her natural talents are "breaking any seal easily" and "floating" (which extends to floating outside of reality). Nobody could've stopped her, basically, and she wasn't even trying.

That said I'm all aggravated because this chapter confuses things. It seems like Kasen -arm and Kasen arm-only are BOTH in Hell, but the Kasen we know isn't acting. I can't tell what the fuck is going on, really. Like what the intentions here are. I can speculate, but that's it

Both of those points are doubted by the very same source material you got this from. The only reason youkai follow spellcard duels against Reimu is because they are all conscious of the fact that not following them (and possibly killing Reimu) would be detrimental to their existence. Again that isn't speculation. Suika CAN do those things. Yuugi CAN do those things. We've seen them do things, and have had others witness their abilities. It's also important to note that they're oni, and while Suika does lie a bit, Yuugi (as far as we know) doesn't, and generally Suika doesn't either.

Honestly, I am of the mind that none of this matters, I'm just saying what we know. There are many powerful characters, but I won't assume any strength. Unlike Okina and Yukari, whose responsibilities as sages relied on their innate abilities, Kasen had no involvement with the barrier itself, which explains her complete lack of understanding of it. Okay? That has nothing to do with power. Reimu was the one who enforced the MOST current Gensokyo by settling the powers of youkai and gods to something reasonable. Yukari may have been responsible, but that's only a theory and even if it's true the enforcer of the rules is Reimu, who does indeed enforce them by strength. However, the order the Sages established ALSO had nothing to do with strength. Their intention was to create a world that could survive the in the evolving modern earth, and that was it. To that end, they separated the land, and regulated it no more than that. The only regulation SPECULATED to have happened in regards to power was Yukari's lunar war, in which far greater powers scared youkai into not wanting to expand further. Yukari herself did not threaten them with her strength to not get uppity. She is a powerful being, but her being a sage is not relevant to her power.

- we still don't know what Kasen was keeping in her house, but an earlier chapter where Marisa tried to break in has shown that Kasen is mindful about her house's security all the time.

Weird mentions from chapter 48:
- Tenshi remarks that the only gate left open in the compass they found in Kasen's house only had the northeast gate open (this is the oni's gate). In PCB Phantasm Reimu route, Yukari says that she lives on the northeast part of gensokyo, using the same terms as the one used in the compass. Whether this was just a joke or is actually significant, who knows.

The only justification for it ending in 50 is that the 10th volume will end at chapter 50. If ZUN were to keep going, he would have to do 5 more chapters of Ibarakasen or sell an 11th volume with <5 chapters. He could also sell volume 10 with more than 5 chapters, but this is the state of Ibarakasen right now.

Kasen mentioned back then that she had to drink out of her sake box to keep her arm from rotting away. I'm not entirely sure if she's referring to the black smoke or the arm herself, but seeing how smoke doesn't rot, it's most likely the arm.

What could this imply is either the medicine had an unintended side effect and regenerated an entire Kasen from that arm, or if the arm has become that way by its own, Kasen herself is keeping the arm alive as if she's planning to do something with it.

And we know that Suika is the strongest of them, and that she's friends with/on par with Yukari (they can and do fight casually, and Suika states they used to fight before spell card rules). My not thinking that Kasen is as strong as them is headcanon, sure, just as well as someone saying she must be as strong. My saying she must be weaker than Suika is not headcanon. This is something we know. You'd know if you played the games/read anything.
