Do you honestly think some of the all-ages changes wont bleed over into the +18 release? Even when it's detached H they still find a way to fuck it up ala Maitetsu. I seriously hope everyone here picks up a pirated copy to read through before they even consider purchasing it and give it a week or two to see if any subtle content changes/rewrites occured.

I never said I don't think it's going to happen but even if it does, the community will fix it like they've done many times before. I don't buy from Sekai and I have lots of other VNs to read so I don't give a shit

>> No.20629176

>>20629111
PSV is the base version with a +18 patch to revert the all-ages changes and reintroduce the +18 scenes. They'll also probably be charging for the +18 patch like they always do. So i'm expecting a lot of mistakes where content isn't properly reverted and still using the all-ages stuff instead of the original +18. Unlike say Wagahigh where the all-ages steam release was based off the +18 release just edited to remove H-scenes, some indecent jokes, and rewrites the blood-related sister heroine to be a non-blood related cousin or something.

>>20629134
I was speaking in regards to people who for some stupid reason still buy from Sekai Project. If something requires a community patch to fix it's probably not something you should be spending money on in the first place.

JAST is really slowly turning into the worst localization company out there. Half a decade to release shit and cutting their titles. If Peter Payne wasn't such a jew and if he actually invested that J-List money, they could release visual novels on a monthly basis like MangaGamer does, but it's fine since their shills sanahtlig and co will defend and shill each of their release.
And before people say that's only with their recent titles, JAST has been cutting, censoring or releasing inferior versions of their titles since Aselia the Eternal.

Are the missing lines because JAST bought the PS3 version's translation from Fruitbat and based their release on that version?

>> No.20632157

>>20631919
The PS3 doesn't have any alternative extra content or extra CGs, it's just the all ages version of the 18+ one with some censorship like in the bath scenes.
JAST's version should have more content than the PS3 one since it's the PS3 plus 18+ patch combined, so it doesn't make any sense that they have missing lines.

>> No.20632879

>>20629176
The thing is what happened to Maitetsu wasn't a mistake in the first place. Lose deliberately removed the ecchi content from the 18+ release for whatever reason and only relented partially after Fakku pressured them into it. So I can't see the same thing happening to Nanairo or any of their other releases unless a similar thing happens with the developers wanting to remove content themselves.

I really don't think there's much pride involved in these things. Especially since the "announcement" for the English version was two tweets that got almost no attention. It's the same scenario as Sumikko Soft with HaruKuru, yet they seem to have easily given up the licence to Sekai. And I also imagine it's going to be the same scenario with Harukaze and Noratoto.
Self-publishing only really works for Japanese companies if the title they are releasing already has a lot of fanfare about it in the west or they have a huge backlog of games to choose from. I know Moonstone are pretty popular, but when people think of Moonstone they think of Princess Evangile, Imopara and Sakura no Mori Dreamers. Not fucking Love Sweets.

hi, mosaicfag here. Mosaics are a blight upon the modern day VN industry since back in the day for the first ~8-10 years of the western vn industry, not a single release from any of the notable publishers had mosaics. This is 51+ titles released by various publishers all together, in a row, without mosaics. With all that being said, I have no problems with fantranslations having mosaics, they don't impede my enjoyment of the title one bit. However I cannot read 90% of officially released titles that have mosaics, even if I pirated the title and spent nothing on it. I just end up not caring about the title after ~110 minutes of reading since there'll be no payoff to the time invested into the title.
Now that I think about it, I don't think I've finished a single official release (other than the nekopara series, but those run like 70 minutes each release so I end up finishing it before I can drop it) that has kept mosaics and I've been reading VN's for nearly 15 years now.

Good luck having anyone take you seriously when you say both those things a sentence apart. By your logic you shouldn't be able to care about any fan translation after 110 minutes either because there'd be no payoff.

>> No.20658370

keeping mosaics makes the release look like an unfinished half-assed cash grab which kills my desire to read the VN in question since it leads me to believe that the publisher had no faith in the profitability of the title and opted to cut corners to reduce costs.

>>20658289
You don't have different standards for fan-translations and official releases? I think it would be extremely unreasonable to expect a translator to not only do translation work on a title but also go through the effort of decensoring every CG and then releasing all that work completely free of charge. I do however expect any company that is charging for their work to be worth the money and not a half-finished job. A "Western release" is a release of the original title with all the content that can be legally published in the west, not a "western port" of the censored japanese version with an english text option.

So how don't you not see why it is retarded to release two games in the same time-frame and lose out on a bunch of potential sales in an industry where pretty much every sale counts because they're so low? (minus a few outliers obviously).
Also I want you to take a look at the nukige MG have in their backlog that's almost ready to release. Maggot Baits. Do you know what nukige by the same developer sold really well with females? That's right, euphoria.

It was an example. The point is that they will have several releases ready, some of which can be released at the same time without losing sales. Sure, they might lose a few, but a lot less than if they released the game at the same time as when another company releases something which directly competes with it. Lilycle+Damekoi/Trinoline/Bokuten for March, for example.
While every sale counts, that is not the whole story. Delaying popular VNs because you have a big release backlog may lessen the hype of the games. There is also the matter of opportunity cost, where you might not have the budget for acquiring new good licenses, something that MG has fallen behind on recently.

I think they're just not announcing stuff unless it has had a decent amount of work already done on it, unless it's something huge like Rance X. It also seems like Sekai Project is trying to do the same and I'm sure the newer companies like Nekonyan and Sol Press will eventually do it too because people get impatient waiting for a game, and like you said it lessens the hype for the game. Yet they still have to show that they're working on something so we get "Secret Project 1" and such instead of and early announcement.

Your taste is irrelevant when it comes to judging what is and what is not a good announcement.

Have you actually played Aokana? It's not the kamige you're making it out to be. Hello Lady, Byakko, Nukitashi and Making Lovers are all better games than it.

Ever occurred to you that Rance is popular not because of muh gameplay?

Maybe for 50 or so EOPs in a shithole that is /haniho/. Majority of sane people though play it for great writing and characters.

Trinoline is the most likely since that was stated to be out of beta first IIRC. Damekoi is likely too though, and Bokuten has been in dev hell forever, so that might be pushed out first. Lilycle would be kind of funny, but since MG just had a yuri release in January, it's the least likely of the currently out of beta titles to be next.
