I can’t help but to shake my head smile every time I hear somebody say they want to move to japan, here’s why:

Most Japanese businesses still use fax machines and don’t accept debit payments, and on the hr side their hiring practices are extremely dated as well, having no laws to ensure racial equity in hiring practices, ugh.
3. Learning Japanese is really hard, like really really hard. Right out of the gate you are expected to learn 3 different writing systems, and over 2000 kanji (An alphabet that the Chinese brought over hundreds of years ago) but the problems don’t end there. Japanese is filled with untranslatable cultural words that even lifelong learners of the language still scratch their head about. for example the word “yoroshiku” has a nuance of “pleas be kind to me” or “pleas take care of me” but no true English translation exists.
So if you have been watching anime and thought about making a trip to the land of the rising sun, take a second to reconsider because the message from westerners in Japan is clear- Japan doesn’t live up to the hype.

I can't possibly be the only person who is creeped out by this stuff: There is a whole verb in Japanese which, when appended to the stem form of any other verb, allows you to express the opposite of that verb without having to use its negative form.

Maybe that description didn't make much sense. It's like, append the positive form of this verb to the end of the stem of the verb in the sentence "It's possible to do that", and you can make the sentence mean "It's not possible to do that." Though since verbs end the sentences in Japan, it's more like "Yes, we can do that for you — NOTTTTTT." I mean, how is that "polite"? How is that the way to deal with people in business? It doesn't matter if you're only understanding just barely enough to get what's going on, the drive to know what happens next means you're going to keep exposing yourself to new shit. For me when I was starting out, I really loved reading Yotsuba, so it did it for me, but if you find Yotsuba to be a grind go read something else. in a dictionary you might see it marked なり because なる was the conjugation that modifies nouns but thats all thats left of them
