Well, that part of the post was about the past though. I was just reinforcing how production and recognition are two separate skills, and i was wondering if the same memory trap applies to me being able to reproduce kanji from their meaning but not being able to tell the meaning from seeing the kanji (even if i have learned it already) Maybe it's because i don't actually remember the Kanji from doing RTK, i just remember the stories and then they gradually form inside my head.

What do you mean "properly"? You don't necessarily have to introduce a card just because you mined it that day.

I've been using Anki for Japanese for years now and what I've ultimately settled for is simply adding new words as I see them, and if I see a card that I've already added at some point earlier but not introduced yet, I'll select that card and use Ctrl + Shift + S to move it to the top of the new cards queue by having Start position set at 0. It's a good way to prioritize relevant cards that show up often.

Why are conjugations like たい and くない not actually listed as conjugations? This has confused me several times. Just had 見たくない in a text and because it's not listed as a conjugation i basically don't know how to pull it apart other than by adding たい and thinking of the negative. I'm assuming this is because たい turns shit into い adjectives or something?

Right, if you wanna read the news, definitely learn those words

And then understand that you're gonna meet a shit ass ton of words that are not used there when you read various LNs

You eventually wanna learn all the words, but you can't expect to learn them all unless you go find them.

Most people won't need to know what a 三味線 is, 按摩、or what 稽古 is (just 勉強・ 練習・訓練・特訓) but dammit you'll NEED to learn it pretty quick when you start reading shit like 雪国 since you're in fucking 芸者 land now. You'll need to know 跨がる、裾、木々、袖、草原、腿、腰、 and more when you go to read キノの旅 since the author describes her and her environs every single story.

You don't need to remember it all perfectly the first time, or even the 10th time, but you do need to see them over and over again and learn how they sound, because there may come a day when you're reading a novel that heavily favors describing 瞳・頬・眼(まなこ)・睫毛・額・唇 and you'll wanna know this shit. Or maybe some dude in your book keeps 媚びる with some 女 by lifting his 眉.

You've gotta know them all but don't stress, just read more.

Anyways don't actually read this post, go back and do your reps.

see unkown word
write furigana into discord server with only me in it (who needs word files)
mine it later on PC

The difference with English is that there are literally people who speak exactly like the shit you see on TV and in Cartoons. While we might give native speakers some shit for choosing to talk in a strange way (like deliberately doing Shakespearean style speech) the truth is that if you're an ESL and you're making an effort, it's ok no matter what words you're using. We're pretty damn good at figuring out what you mean even if you have no idea how to express it, or use some janky words to explain it.

Since we in the Anglo world EXPECT everyone else to speak English, we aren't gonna be blown away and give fake 上手's out because most likely we either A) don't notice or B) don't care how rough your English is and don't feel the need to let you know how you're doing.

In fact, I honestly can't remember the last time I remarked on anyone's English skill besides native speakers who make dumbshit mistakes like there/their/they're tier errors, and I LIVE with 80% people who either speak no English or have it as a 2nd/3rd/4th language.

In early August I deleted my mining deck and started a new one because I didn't bother editing my cards and I had something like 50-65% correct on matures.

New cards: 20
Starting ease: 180%
Interval modifier: 80%
leech threshold is 99 and leech action is tag only because I know from the mining deck I had before this one that literally every card will leech eventually.
I have an add-on installed: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2074758752 because I'm incapable of telling how many seconds pass before I give an answer. I also have the addon to automatically show the answer after a set amount of seconds.
I modified the settings of both or maybe just one of them to make it work like this:
under 5 seconds: "good" highlighted, hitting enter selects "good"
5-15 seconds: "hard" highlighted, hitting enter selects "hard"
after 15 seconds the answer automatically displays. (easy isn't used)
After the answer shows up I look at the word and the definition (and reading if there's no audio for the word), and then look at the word again and read it out in my head because it seems like I don't remember the word if I don't.

I do my anki session right at the start of each day, and do two custom study reviews of cards forgotten that day right before sleep. I read for 10-13 hours every day. I'm very meticulous about editing every one of my cards and only mine 20 each day so that I learn them the next day while they're still fresh in my memory and I attach screenshots from the line that I mined the word from to each card to keep the context in my memory and also make anki less painful.

Afraid I'm not that good yet, I'm only about halfway through Genki 1, so a lot of the grammar is still past my level even in something like Yotsuba.

No such thing. Just start trying to read. If you don't understand something, keep going. If you see it a second, try to figure it out.

search for kansai sounding terminology on this page, chances are there is either an explanation or an example sentence with a standard Japanese translation you can compare it with
共通語︰1. あの人はせっかちだから、気をつけた方がいいよ
大阪弁︰1. あの人いらちやから、気ぃつけた方がええで
共通語︰129. かたわだから働けないんだ。
大阪弁︰129. かたわやから働かれへん。
