I watched Gintama 2 yesterday. It was so hilarious. I think Fukuda was given unlimited budget so he could parody most of the popular anime and cast anybody he wanted. Jiro Sato had a scene for himself to ramble where the leads fell out of character. Yuya Yagira is so good in acting too like watching him in Aoi Honoo again. The story though is still your typical shonen drivel, but the comedy is on spot. I rec this film very much.

But nothing beat this week's MONSTER HOUSE segment. Kurochan finally was exposed and every single one of the residents hate his guts now.

After he got exposed two timing between Reon and Ran when they watched the live broadcast of the first episode of MH, and Taiga telling everyone that Kurochan was lying about kissing Reon, Reon told him how she was disgusted of what he did and that he's the worst. then she went off to her room, the mood in MH became sullen afterwards, and everyone were disgusted by Kurochan. After a time skip they showed everyone (minus Kurochan) having a peaceful and cheerful dinner, and apparently Kurochan hasn't been attending MH for a long time, and you could see that everyone were happy about that, but then Kurochan came at that exact moment and the gloomy mood came back with him. Of course that asshole was acting as if nothing happened, and he had the audacity to tell Reon if she's still angry. Reon looking disgusted and everyone touchy. Suddenly a black-suit barged in handing a letter and a lottery box. Kurochan read the letter, it says that whoever gets 〇 in the lottery box will decide who gets kicked out. Kurochan panicked the fuck out because he knows that if anyone not him gets 〇 they will kick him outta MH. They settled their turns using Janken and Kurochan won the first place, then when everyone got a paper they opened it and whoa, Kurochan won the 〇. His face expression instantly changed from fear to a nihilistic unholy face (pic related) eyeing everyone with extreme smugness. He then told them with extreme arrogance that he will leave the choice of who gets kicked out to them, and left the room. Next episode will have the girls crying rivers apparently.

watched Imamura Shohei's The Eel most recently. I have been trying to track down a decent quality of that film for like 2 years and finally found a good torrent.
It was pretty enjoyable; I like particularly the colors choices, the cinematography, and how a wide group of interesting characters start to flock around the barber shop. There's some fucked up stuff, but it's mostly an enjoyable picture that I would compare with Northern Exposure, if anyone has seen that.
Could anyone recommend me something similar, from Imamura or otherwise? I like movies with these quaint little towns and the eclectic but well-meaning people in them.

I just watched Shoplifters in the Netherlands. Damn, this movie hit me in the feels. It's low budget but the acting and fantastic characters make up for it.

I just started watching jdramas and watched both os those when they came out and liked em a lot. Koe has the cutest girl ever, and Kake was one of the closest things I've seen to live action anime.

Just watched this Nobuhiko Obayashi film 'Futari'/Chizuko's Younger Sister, the soundtrack was by Joe Hisaishi.

Good suiyoubi episode. Coincidentally I heard the term おっぱい星人 for the first time yesterday used by some old guy on Chidori's aiseki shokudou.
Monster house was entertaining as usual, the girls talk about kuro-chan's bad breath being the highlight. I'm glad it'll be ending next week though because it would become quite draining if it overstayed its welcome. Looking forward to next week's 2-hour special.

i recently torrented a folder of most of his short films, watched bicylce dream (which was some nice creepy surealism) and weavers of nishijin (which had some pretty cool images - pic related). i'm gonna watch funeral parade of roses and pandemonium soon since i have them downloaded and they seem to be his most acclaimed work

i liked that radiohead was in the soundtrack but other than that i didn't think the film was good at all

I liked Matsu Takako's performance, but yeah, the movie is very flawed. But nevertheless an interesting watch imo.

Looks like Inugamike no Ichizoku was on Japanese TV tonight. Good film, would recommend.
