Did you ever talked about 4chan to someone you've met in real life? What was the reaction? Did you ever met by chance someone that was talking about 4chan, like on a train or at a concert, etc.? Did you ever attended a convention together with other 4channers or traveled to met each other after a discussion here on /jp/? Other interactions with the real world? (shipping a doujin to someone; making a CD with Jap music for an otaku friend, etc.)

Not really but once I dreamt some children were posting on the jay and thought about laying the "absolute state of /jp/" meme on them.

These days, people are more likely to know 4chan as "that place with the nazis" than anything.

Our dreamlike days have been trampled upon.

Other people have brought it up to me and I have at most given a vague knowing look. I know at least one channer who I can say I'm semi decently acquainted with, but neither of us have explicitly said the name or any board name.

Some guy mentioned wojak which was a pretty strong indicator he was from 4chan since most people probably call him tfw or feels guy. I brought it up and I was right. Pretty cool guy.

A guy told me once how crazy /b/ is. He seemed to like /b/. He also seemed to like monster girls.

I wouldn't voluntarily talk to someone IRL about 4chan, but if they bought it up to me and weren't talking about the uglier parts of the site, I'd participate. Would also be open to meetups if they lived nearby.

not so much, only few weeks ago my friend and I were talking about this crazy "Momo creepy bullshit", and how funny it is the way it spreads throught the social media and the internet.
Facebook, Youtube, some old messed-up stuff like Ares... and 4chan. He is stranger to 4chan nature

And I told him "4chan is awesome. you can be anybody, and nobody will care. nobody is really following you, checking your activities and posts and opinions. nobody can stalk you. nobody can judge you - you are annonymous. You can evel fool dumbos by saying that you're some kind of programmer or tester or producer of a 80s/90s videogame or movie or anything,, and the fools will believe it. it's really fun and easy. you can play around around and be anyone you want to and do everything you want to"

I didn't go into details as to tell him that I am a dedicated user of this site. He just knows that I, unlike him. am well-versed into the internet world

>> No.19773781

I did, but I have never mentioned /jp/ or that I visit here. And probably never will. That Moot panel was a disaster, I don't think /jp/ needs a lot more normalfags here. And this place is sick: you worship 2D girls, discuss onaholes and shitpost unique memes that no one can understand. How can I explain that I'm a normal, functioning being, I am just interested in this.

I have a friend who is a /co/ and /vg/ regular, so sometimes we'll talk about stuff like the Easter event and the 4cc. Other than him, I don't talk to anybody about my time on here.

>this place is sick
Then why are you here? It gets much worse then here, and this is better board than most
>how can I
Why the fuck do you care about upholding the appearance that you are some socially well-adjusted and normal person, or what people would think of you for being honest? What do you have to lose from that, and why do you care so much about upholding appearances? It's dishonest and makes you seem like a shitty person.
>shitpostingunique memes no one
You don't have to lurk very long to figure things out, and if you don't get a meme, ask. /b/ and other boards have plenty of unique and incomprehensible memes, like the laughing/vibrating gold mask, the wojac, ebin, jej, even pepe doesn't make sense until you lurk a bit (how are you supposed to know it's pronounced "pep, and not pep-peh or peppa?). How the hell are you supposed to know that they're all different characters when they all look so similar? Hell, the wojac would seem more like a "lol so funny and epic" metaphor for normalfags if you didn't know the context. Egads.

You do realize that your writing style. Is basically a signature. At this point, right? It's either multiple anons typing like a telegraph STOP Or one anon typing like that to establish or maintain identity STOP It's borderline avatar-fagging STOP And in as about a narsisistic way as it gets STOP

I learned about 4chan through my real life friends so yeah

>> No.19775701

I don't think this is a /jp/ topic. A number of real life friends use this website but I'm the only one that uses /jp/. I don't think this board is very good and am not sure why I'm still here. Maybe I'll leave.

I've had very awkward conversations about 4chan with this /v/tard who works at a convenience store I frequent. He only works the night shift and I usually come in at 1:00 AM so we run into each other often. He doesn't really care for weebshit so 4chan is literally all we have in common.

Became friends with a guy in college after he asked if I played a game I was browsing pictures of. I probably mentioned that I browsed the /vg/ board for the game and he told me he mainly used /b/. I told him I stopped going there years ago because I'm too fragile. We mostly just talk about anime and vidya.

Other than that, I got several of my irl friends to begin browsing back in HS, probably 10 years ago. Looking back I was a cringy meme loving fuck, but in my defense the people loved it. However I think I made a terrible mistake introducing my friends to 4chan because now two of them unironically call themselves nazis and I can't bring them out in public. At least I can still talk to them about anime; one actually is living in Japan studying the language as well.

Also this >>19775761
I'd never initiate a conversation based on someone browsing 4chan.

I hadn't spoke to one of them for 2-3 years or so, so I sent the guy a text one day asking how he's been. He immediately began prattling on about how he doesn't trust any news sources and strictly gets his information from /pol/.

>> No.19780051

>>19772150
This, really. Many of my friends in high school (which was admittedly not very long ago) regularly visited 4chan. Lo and behold, they frequented a mix of either /pol/, /tv/, or /v/.

>>19775765
Not him, but I've noticed that at least within this year, there seem to be a larger portion of people who act conceited and ignorant in the same manner as the boards you mentioned. I used to think the crossboarder bogeyman was bullshit, but the more time I spend here, the more I believe it. That said, this place is absolutely nowhere near as bad as those boards, and I actually consider it one of the better online communities.
For reference, I only started going here in early 2016.
