The best piece of advice that i can give you is to remember not to rage and exit the game if you die on stage 1 or 2 or something, you'll just get sick of the games if you do that. Use all your bombs, lives and continues if you have to.

It's truly bizarre to me how many people despair over how hard Touhou is and how they can't make any progress, when all they've done is go in blind and flail at the controls without even bothering to read up on what they're supposed to be doing.

Yeah, news flash, each game is based around some mechanic that you're supposed to take advantage of. Use the tools given to you to succeed. Even a monkey can figure out how to use a stepladder to reach some bananas; are you smarter than a monkey? Can you read? Then RTFM and play smarter, not harder. I guarantee you can easily get at least a Normal 1cc if you stop crippling yourself with ignorance and actually try.

I wasn't too fond of Koa before, but to whoever you are, if your main goal was to bring more attention to her, then you succeeded for the most part.

Play an hour a day minimum. Don't play with continues, this will force you to learn how to use your resources to survive. Get comfortable with your input method and keep a consistent hand/finger/posture while you play. Don't play distracted, stick exclusively to the game for the hour that you play. Stick to one game until you can beat it well, then move up difficulty, and do it again. Don't go from game to game without mastering at least one first. Within a month you will be good or at least competent.

Can confirm his advice, I main 1 game and this worked right up to the lnb level in a year, with inefficient practice tools when starting out

I should add: look up a variety of resources, such as searching in youtube to get a replay. For example, if you're going for a normal nn(n), even looking up normal 1ccs to see if they have a strat/route for the problem is better than just looking at the famous nn clear and not diversifying your potential strats. HEAVY emphasis on looking up strats on youtube, or you'll very likely die to memo/easy stuff when it can be easily done with simple movements.

If you're aiming for lnb+, looking up practice tools or spoilerAL is necessary. It's not necessarily for lower goals, but it is efficient practice.

Also, don't listen to people who say it's cheating to look up strats. I will very likely receive troll replies for this, but at the end of the day, if you look up strats, you get better than if you didn't look up strats. This also goes for any other game with a community really.
