Dear /jp/ i have played/seen very few japanese VN/games, i am interested in further exploring this type of entertainment, where should a novice like me start?

I went ahead and googled to check if there's an english patch for this, and while there seems to be an engish-translated version, the place where I found it also says to set my computer to japanese unicode. Is this just for the installer? I'd hate to spend the time downloading it if I'm not even going to be able to use it without fucking with my computer settings.

Install it, apply the patch, and run it without changing anything. There's a good chance it will just work. If it doesn't, then try installing it with AppLocale, which you can download from Microsoft. If it STILL doesn't work, then just fucking change your non-unicode settings. Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced.

thanks folks, i got some series to work with right now, are they generally easy to find? (i.e TT or other torrenting websites? or would it be wiser to research groups releasing translated english patches/versions?)
