Praise Christ and the Holy Family. Men, listen up - My question is this: If I put my faith in Christ Jesus, will it accelerate my Japanese language journey? A Mormon Missionary came to my home the other day and told me that the LDS Church has one of the best language acquisition programs besides the US Military, and says that through much practice and the Grace of God, many Missionaries called to foreign countries are able to become competent or even proficient in their respective languages in just a short time.

You say that like this'll be my first time speaking to Japanese people, I have very little concern about my ability to communicate while I'm there. Even if I had to leave today I'd be fine, my thinking is just that if I finish Core10k before I leave and then only do reviews while I'm there, it'll give me a convenient block of time to get some more of the Core10k matured. Then when I get back, I'll start on my mining deck that I've been building for the past 6 months or so.

>Reminder that kanji are not words.
Wanikani doesn't just do kanji, that's just a lot easier to quantify than how many words the average 9th grader knows. It teaches plenty of really common vocab words, not even strictly jukugo, for each kanji.

There's not a lot of point replying to the rest of your post. "You're not studying" is just wrong. I do cards from my grammar deck as I read my grammar book, and over time I do better at them, it's demonstrably effective. "You won't be able to read" is just ridiculous. If I have the vocab of a 9th grader and I've been studying grammar every day for a year and I still can't read anything native, that would say more about japanese as a language than my studying methods. But you're already wrong, because I can already read some stuff just fine.

The efficacy of my methods doesn't impact yours in the slightest, so I don't know why you're being so defensive. I know how to learn things, and I know how to study effectively, because I've been doing both things for a long time; I'm not really seeking assurance here. I'm telling someone that I find wanikani to be a good use of my time, and that it's been more effective for me than anki was in the past.

I really enjoy listening to erotic voice works as practice! Last one was about my nee-san who helped me relax by giving me a handjob (this is only the first track, I'm sure we're gonna fuck later!). She kept touching my nipples and telling me that there's no shame in enjoying that. What a nice woman!

Hah

I had a 'project' on December last year where I have to listen to at least 1 hour of Japanese audio daily, to see if that could improve my listening skills. It sucked.

The breakthrough turns out to be H-audio. I said 'breakthrough', it was more of a cheat. I'm pretty sure like 10 minutes of my daily hourly listening was some Japanese woman's gasping. Of course, I find it more stimulating than the audio I've listened before. Where did you get your erotic voice works? I got mine from a hentai website that stopped updating in 2015.

To this point I still don't know what so arousing about 'ear blowjobs'.

ps: i could've sworn there are h-audio threads on /h/, but i suppose it must have been some other imageboard.

I have a question for people who took the JLPT in Japan. I'll be in Japan this summer so I figure I'd take it there.
Since you need a Japanese address to register, I can ask friends in Kansai for their address but would that mean that I have to take the test in Kansai? On the website it says that you can chose a test area that differs but it's not really clear.

I've been getting them from anime-sharing, but DDL websites are a pain to use even with jdownloader, so I'm still looking around for other places.

Erotic audio tends to stick more in my memory. I watched a JAV where the woman (sunohara miki I think) had to suck on this dildo, and then she was asked by the man whether it is oishii, and she said 「やっぱり本物のほうが好き」in such an erotic manner that despite this being a completely cliche line (or perhaps exactly for that reason) it's been stuck in my mind permanently.

I finally get to post this. I jerked off to a JK jerking me off and not letting me cum until she counts down from ten very slowly. Exploded through 6 layers of tissues. It was decent.

I have been studying Japanese for a little more than a year now,and I've been learning kanji for a few months.

I understand the basics about readings, but I don't really get the historic reason of why the Chinese readings were imported along with kanji.

If I understand correctly, back then Old Japanese was already a language by itself, only lacking a writing system which was imported from China.

Now, I understand that maybe they took some kanji which represented things for which they didn't have a Japanese word, and thus used the Chinese sounds they heard.

But seeing the huge amount of compound words which use onyomi, it's impossible to think that none of them were used before with their native pronunciation, especially since there are also a lot of words which having more that one kanji use kunyomi. For example, some vocabulary words I've learnt recently are: 大雨 ( おおあめ, kunyomi) and 小川 ( おがわ, kunyomi). But 火山 is かざん (onyomi).Maybe the concept "volcano" didn't have a word for itself in Japanese, but why create it imitating Chinese instead of joining their native words (ひ and やま)?
