Golden Kamuy looks like a good fill-in once 3-Gatsu no Lion ends. Both have casts with lots of great old men, sharing surpringly many actors (Akio, Houchuu, Tsuda Kenjirou, Sugita, Hosoya).
I barely remember hearing about the series in on the Amertalk's manga episodes, but having people like Sugou Takayuki puts it instantly on my watchlist.

The biggest difference to Lion is that the MCs for this are very minor people (a young female rookie and a guy who did mostly movie dubs), so overall it might be not as attractive to casual seiyuufags.
A good thing for the seiyuu themselves is that being in a cast like requires clearing some high hurdles so for them its a valuable experience.

There's a difference between "literal who" and actually inexperienced people. There are tons of seiyuu who keep doing lots of minor roles for a long time but who aren't lucky enough to land big roles to become actually popular.
Compared to people who get a jumpstart into popularity by landing a debut role in actually popular stuff (which is mostly about luck), they tend to be way more skilled as actors since surviving in the industry for that long requires hard work and motivation.

The difference is in the amount of anime roles. Kawanishi has done tons of them over his ten years of activity while that other guy has done a finger-countable amount in about five years (even his official profile lists such amazing roles as "staff", "soldier" and "waiter"). I'm not questioning his ability to act, just that he is by far less experienced in anime since he's more of a film dub seiyuu.

And it's not like experience matters if you have the talent; Hirano Aya was only 19 and didn't have that many roles before doing Haruhi which was one hell of a performance.

The ship has sailed. She will never be on the level of popularity as KanaHana, Aoi, etc. There is no real reason for this, could be a number of things. I do not know how other seiyuus work, I only know how Kanae Itou works, but it could be that she prefers certain jobs. She has a bunch of work on mobile games or apps, having multiple characters for some series. She has been in Pretty Rhythm/PriPara for years, which are year long series. A lot of her roles are from popular franchises and do have multiple games such as SAO, Dynasty Warriors, and the aforementioned Pretty Rhythm. She has albums, she goes touring, and recently started going to more conventions. It is a mystery why she isn't as big as some of her co-stars, but the best part about it is she isn't ever casted to do roles like isekai harem bullcrap or super edgy gorefests. Aside from a couple like Oda Nobuna.

See, I don't actually play the games and this is what confuses me and which is why I ultimately never thought of her as a Kanae Itou character. She obviously does not have Kanae Itou's voice in the latest games. I just checked that is completely not her voice.
