Purge is easily the "easier" one by al ong shot. With an instant win button against anything, the only limiting factor is your time and patience. Overdose on the otherhand has nothing to help you if potentials fall to 0 or you get yourself stuck somewhere sticky. I'd purge is easier, but overdose will be better if you just want to skip most of the grind

Magic Shop Vendors. You can also purchase a blackmarket vendor and blacksmith if you want convenience but the magic shop gets you stuff you cant get otherwise, potions of potential, flying scrolls, superior material, love potions, cure corruption, evolution etc.

Guys I installed elona+ 1.7.6(fix) and elona custom 1.7.6.1 and now my portraits for my pets wont work. They work perfectly fine for my character screen (shows there) but on the pet screen they just a blank slate.

I put them in the exact same folder (user/graphic) and they obviously work since my characters portrait is showing properly.

Im guessing it has to do with:

You get statue in act 2 when you are reasonably strong already. Get a few copies of gems before that. Its good to have both some gems to revive dead plants (not make them grow, use fertilizer for this) AND statues.for easy seed generation.
Gems may be less useful once your gardening grows high enough, but it'll never hurt to have a few.

Idk, as far as i know time doesnt flow fast in shelter unless there is a bad weather, so i dont understand whats it all about. You also should get pickpocket skill early, with high enough strength to steal fruit trees in hunting quest areas and such. Place trees above the compost bins and when you bash them fruits will fall right where you need them. Getting a good + on vegetables early helps with feeding your fairies.

Set up another separate folder with the custom sprite sheets that need to be periodically updated because Ano adds new assets to the game every once in a while: interface.bmp, face2.bmp, map1.bmp, map2.bmp, item.bmp
If the patch notes say something about a new item or new monster being added, go check the corresponding sprite sheet and make the appropriate updates.

Elemental will give much more damage, but then you have to factor in enemy resist. If you can apply elemental deuffs then going with a mix of elements that you debuff will give you the most damage. (Ex. If you have a high level nightmare skill you can use mind, nerve, nether, poison, chaos, darkness and sound). If you walk over (or look with *) it tells you what they are without you having to pick it up.
Also you should eventually learn what colors have valuable scrolls/potions.

I usually ignore it unless it's obviously a valuable type (rare ring types, feathers, etc.), then I just drop them in my shop.

Equipment level depends on dungeon level, so usually you look only for good potions/books early on. Later you can get pretty decent stuff.
Also, you can use rather cheap change material scrolls on miracle and lower grade equipment to change it to zylon, then sell it in shop - easy money. You cant do the same with equipment bought from other shops.

IIRC Elona Extender had feature that shows that those items are dropped in log window.
I usually just gather everything and then clear inventory - rods will got for warehouse for itzpalt offering/drawing charge, books are stored for binge-reading to train memorization and pots will be sold/used.

If you train your sense quality skill you can see the quality level of gear without needing to pick it up, so you don't need to waste your time with junk.
Also, there's a huge selling penalty with selling equipment, you only sell for like 0.5% of the value of the item. If you sell equipment in a player owned store you'll earn quite a lot more.

Make a character with Abnormal game mode. Try to play it for a hour. Instant cure for packmule syndrome.
Leave most of the stuff at home, use bookshelves and potion racks, store stackable stuff in 4d ppcket yada yada.

You have soft-limited amount of wishes you can get from the well. Every wish increases the chance of next wish rolling a failure 'a stroke of good luck passed by'

The game counts how many times you've gotten wishes from wells and the more times you get wishes this way the more likely a wish will get replaced with "A stroke of good luck passed by". Every year this counter goes down by one.

Maintenance is a pittance compared to what even a novice shopkeeper can pull.
Remember that shops don't get the sale price penalty for selling equipment that you do.
