Seems to me like a lot of VNs give the viewer a first person perspective, inserting them into the plot as the protagonist.

Are there any that don't do this? I get a little uneasy with all these portraits of characters looking straight at me.

Maybe like, a side view? More shit like this?

All games do that in CGs.

Don't look at me like that. Eat your porridge. It's good for you.

I mean more like all the time.

Like, imagine if your point of view in F/SN was like that, so you'd see Shirou in every scene with the other characters facing him or whatnot. Rather than them all looking straight at you.

Jingai Makyou. Well... The chracters do look at the screen, but so does the protagonist, I guess that counts.

Not for the character images, but Crescendo is not told in first person

When was the last time you spoke to a real person OP? Not counting your mother.

They can't really see you through the screen, bro.

My...my sister is in town for Christmas...

Yes, but most still have the characters looking at the screen. I know games sometimes have the characters looking forward (away from screen) or to the side, but never the entire game.

And if they could, they would be disgusted.

Well obviously, I don't think I'd enjoy going to the pool with a guy who'd be masturbating to my cameltoe.

Looks pretty disorienting in retrospect.

Kusari-hime is like that part of the time (outside of CG), I thought it was pretty neat.

I can't believe I completely forgot about Kusari-hime. Yeah, I loved that too. It would be nice if more games did stuff that went a little outside the standard.

Hah, just made the exact same screenshot to post here.

Gekkou no carnevale is told in third person perspective. Characters still stare at you, but sometimes the main protagonist appears on screen so they feel like pictures instead of people staring at you.
I don't think there's really anything like Op's picture, not a full-blown side-view game at least.

Have you played JM? How is it? I have been thinking about playing it, but I heard it's pretty much crap except for Ignis.
