Damn, the new kusemono stuff is so underwhelming. Hands down the worst out of the 4 gamey albums.
Original idea was so good; sophisticated, yet elegant melodies, with a mix of crazy and epic moments in a gothic/baroque atmosphere.

If I remember correctly, it was a few people who handled the bulk of uploading and the OPs stated that no thanking should occur. It looked weird, but if they offer something for free, the best way to thank them would be to play by their rules and accept their whims.
And while I have said that there were probably practical reasons - like not having 5 upload threads around at the same time - the major reason why these people left was probably the provocative behavior of those who willfully defied them.
If there's an idiotic law which regulates the use of a good but that doesn't hurt you, and if teh sale of the good is stopped b/c people ignore that idiotic law, I'd still blame the "criminals", not the "lawmakers".
But these a minor details. It involved a great level of mental health issues on both sides.

They split because probably 75% of the download threads were just people talking about the albums or "thank you" posts to uploaders, causing threads to hit bump limit quicker than necessary.
In the new split download threads, there was a "no thanking" rule to keep spam away, and this rule was enforced by the janitor.
Quickly people starting trolling, resulting in hundreds of deleted "thank you" posts per thread, completely derailing any real discussion and annoying uploaders. It remains a /jp/ meme ever since, even though /jp/ Comiket threads have been dead for years.
