I guess what throws me off is that almost everything original to the game is extremely japanese. It feels less like Noa is western-influenced as a game designer and more that he borrowed a western design as his foundation. Not to mention in this case it's a matter of western artstyle, whereas Elona was a pretty typical mix of RPGmaker and Mystery Dungeon. Seeing an official Elona-related game that looks exactly like RoR/Starbound/etc just weirds me out so much.

Magic dart is too weak to be useful late game. You should be moving on to the Storm spells once you can reliably afford stock for them.
In the late game most things have very high resistance to everything so the only things that end up doing reasonable damage are lightning spells onto wet enemies, fire spells onto gasoline doused enemies, or meteor. Also helpful to use resist weakening spells. Magic storm does ok as well, since most things tend to have lower Magic Resist than specific element resists.

Yeah you should. The best things to trade with adventurers are stuff light enough that you can steal back and you would end up using them anyways so the "It is stolen tag" means nothing.
This includes potions of corruption, potions of potential, scrolls of ally, scrolls of growth, etc.
Just be careful that sometimes, depending on what you traded for, it might reroll that adventurer's inventory instantly and your thing will be gone and leave you no chance to steal it back.

Absolutely not. Most people in Irva especially adventurers live short, horrible lives and succumb to anything from random violence to Nefian psychosis, monsters or mutations. Slavery is also a booming industry so if unfortunate you might just end up as a slave, but even if you escape that you could end up a beggar whom it isn't even illegal to kill in the streets. I died a dozen times in loss mode before getting a successful character, that'll give you an idea of the odds. And that's with them being in your favor being a PC and all.

If you're up against the gods, in a build that's purely melee-focused, you'll need to push all yours resists beyond superb, especially in magic. And for attacks, your best bet would probably be Interlocking shooting mechanisms, proximity assists or both as the ultimate equalizers, in place of high level spells.
But if you're talking about fighting them without equipment attributes of any sort, that's probably gonna take a good while.

Cheer is mandatory if you're using melee pets.
Dimensional move is confusion immune teleportation with zero MP drain, very important to have.
Knockout makes capturing enemies via monster ball incredibly easy. You could also use it to weaken people for forced sleep sharing, you sick fuck.
Kokou is great when you've screwed up a boss fight completely and need to bail. The 20% speed bonus facilitates easy escapes and lets you get off scott free most of the time.

When it comes to feats, you generally want to prioritize abilities that grant the most utility. Damage dealing feats are a secondary concern, since your character and pets should always be doing good damage unless you've somehow managed to cripple them completely.
That said, offensive feats like of the Eye and Gravity feats often come with additional utility in the form of buffs like Gravity Accel and Abyss in the Eye, so don't count them out. I highly recommend the Gravity feats, if only because Gravity Accel is fucking hilarious.

You should. Cheer slaps all your pets with Hero and Speed buffs, which means they'll be faster and doing more damage. This is especially important for boss fights, since you want your pets to do as much damage as possible. You want to reapply Cheer immediately whenever it runs out to get the flow going.

A pet with Cheer is usually unreliable since they only cheer whenever they feel like it, instead of when Cheer is actually needed (I.E. as soon as it runs out.) This can be remedied with Elona+ Custom's custom AI tweaks, where you can set when the pet cheers.

Hey guys, im coming from 1.70. Will it still be possible to make lots of gold quickly (ie a couple million per ingame day)? You used to be able to craft expensive gear directly, but that gear now sells for less and you can't craft it directly, etc. Reselling bought items is now a strict loss, and a few other tiny changes.

It's not horrible exactly, but it does make getting money much harder than it used to be for low level players.

Given that item values have been reworked, dungeon floor trash is barely worth the monthly cost of the shop.

On the plus side wandering salesmen often have great gear for peanuts.

The extreme specialized shop profit only lasted for a few versions, and reselling bought items was practically a exploit, not to mention it also lasted only a couple of versions. These exagerated shop profits clearly weren't Ano's intention and were just a consequence of heavy changes to shops, which he quickly rebalanced when that became apparent. Shop profit is lower now than it was in these broken versions, but it is still much, much higher than vanilla shops, as well as before specialized shops became a thing in version 1.6X.

It isn't extreme. It was really broken between 1.6X and 1.71 and people were complaining they made too much money and had nothing to spend it on; just go back some threads and you'll see that. Shops today still make more money than they did in vanilla and older Plus. People just like to complain.

I'm on 1.70 and it's 1.2x. I don't just "like complaining", it's just disappointing when you thought you've conquered the game only to be pushed back into grindtown over and over.

Ano is one person, he can't possibly do all the testing by himself to make sure things are 100% balanced in every release while making huge changes. "Conquering" the game by abusing the latest unbalanced thing then complaining when it gets rebalanced (while still being better than before) sounds pretty bad.
