Can someone explain why their masks are so far removed from the thing they're trying to recreate? I mean I when you're using 3D modelling and printing that you can take as long to edit as you like there really is no excuse.

It really frustrates me, if you look at this picture the mask actually looks pretty close to what it's meant to be like (comparing the big pictures) but when the bangs aren't covering the sides up its obvious the mask is way wider than it needs to be for no reason whatsoever and has sacrificed basic proportions to do it.

The reason would be that Cici has no talent for it, never did any drawings or art before kig making besides painting cars and doesn't listen to criticism, which makes then harder for them to improve.

That being said I heard the painting quality is good and the finish is smooth, due to their previous experience in the car industry, but it's prone to cracking because of the plastic material they use, as that expands and contracts with heat over time fucking up the paint.

From what I have seen at anime conventions, the Pokemon characters would be in my opinion Mascot or Fursuit characters, however the cosplayers are absolutely against being referred to as Fursuiting.

On the other hand, if you consider the old Godzilla rubber suit to be Kig, than a pocket monster would probably qualify.

I don't know, maybe Cosplayers feel that since they are doing an Established character, that cosplays like Picachu are exempt from the "Furry" designation.

Then again a lot of the Anime Pocket Monsters portrayed, do seem to come off more as a "Show Mascot" for promotional purposes, than a fursuit. Limited mobility etc.

When we talk about kig we usually mean animegao kigurumi. Technically the word kigurumi would encompass fursuits and mascots, but that's not what these threads are about. So if it's not a mask and a hadatai skinsuit then it's probably not kig. You can blur the lines to some degree, so depending on what pokemon you wanted to be it might be considered kig.

Can testify to Cici's masks being absolute shit and made from materials that expand from heat; I've literally watched him rip the bottom half of a mask off cause of it. Sent a mask back to him for repairs, got it back (over a year later) with a poor paint job over the cracks, the cracks are back and are getting worse.
