The game is handled by the original devs. And it's not so much 2 months, but almost a year. They stopped doing story back in December and since then they gradually scaled down effort until the "updates" they do every two weeks now. Guess they didn't get enough revenue for the hassle. Not like they put that much effort back then too, awful "translations", shoddy edits, no app on launch and none of the much needed QoL upgrades they could have implemented from the start to retain userbase. Hell, we couldn't use many characters like ' for months in the in-game chat.

Also, I chatted with whoever runs the Nutaku FB and after complaining that the game was a blatant milking effort and that the devs had not translated half the latest update I got an answer claiming that "localization is tough and we have too high expectations".
I answered that no story since December and having the content that DMM has in one month across 9 in ours wasn't exactly a speedy and tough schedule. Got no further answers.

My experience was rather different than yours. I didn't have any real problems getting set up, as I just threw down a ball of death on the left side of the map and let Silvia smack the spit out of Barb. I didn't really have any problems with finding placements. My main issue was the freaking fog, which made my healers more or less worthless the entire time it was up. I have this feeling that killing Barb causes a permanent fog until the end of the map, too, since it seemed that, toward the final rush, it just stayed there for well over a minute.

The trolls weren't really an issue for me in and of themselves, though they did surprise me once or twice with how long it was taking my blockers to sort them out. I suppose crossing Barbatos out of the equation made dealing with the trash much less stressful.

If you, or anyone else, has Silvia, I strongly recommend using her for this map. She's has excellent staying power against these enemy types. You might even be able to get away with one of the other life draining units, though I didn't try them.

There are certain units that need them first, after that most low cost units are good. Advance guards and units that generate UP are the biggist priority to mincost. Cheap and strong units you use a lot come next, like healers/feng shui or maybe even archers. Most blacks under 20 I'd consider cheap enough to get use from mincosting them.

Beast tamer girl, Moltena, is really solid at demon beast tamer AW2. More specifically, her tokens are really powerful. With her and Emperor, Fuuko and other staple f2p units you shouldn't have many problems outside of lv11-15 majins once you've gotten them leveled.

Amanda is pretty lackluster but she can tank decently with strong healing support.

New plat alchemist lowers enemy defense by 10% just by being in the sortie. On SAW she regenerates everyone's HP by 75hp per 0.5 seconds globally. Alchemists in general are rather niche overall though with the only useful ones standing out for their individual gimmicks. She could be useful but I wouldn't recommend prioritizing her.
Leora can be a one skill use Uzume substitute with her SAW, and unlike Uzume she also buffs defense. Her normal skill enables more afk strats. She's worth raising as a support unit.

On SAW Deine has 1800 attack with no buffs at max lvl, 240 ranged attack with a small splash AoE. Her attack animation becomes much longer so her offensive aspect isn't so amazing on its own, but it's a great bonus on top of being one of the strongest physical tanks. Her normal skill puts her to about 3k attack under the same conditions, but it'll only be single target with no range and a lesser skill duration.
Gellius can almost if not completely nullify magical damage with the proper buff set-up (read: specific blacks and plats), but going from 4 block to 5 block isn't very useful in general.

pic related is using all of the above minus Tifa. Because you can go over 100% MR, Gellius can theoretically begin absorbing and healing magic damage depending on the damage formula, but I haven't tested such personally.

Technically, it's only right now on dmm that Union events are finally properly useful. The past ones are also made retroactively useful though.
I don't think I saw many people mentioning it by the way: don't trash/fodder/whatever pride union weapons. They'll eventually (now on dmm) get a FLB upgrade that makes them actually good (skill level cap up to 30 and extra skill).
Also considering the scarcity of assault big weapons no one had predicted, it turned out that maxed pride weapons would have been a fairly ok investment as SR replacement anyways, for non-whales at least.

Angeline gets a permanent 1.8x DEF multiplier added to a flat 15% physical damage reduction, Mephisto gets a permanent 1.5/1.5x ATK/DEF multiplier that is shared (DEF) with a couple other units, Elmira has a chain shot SAW that functions as a punchier Reanbell (plus some pretty good tanking potential), Kyuubi's SAW leads to her having the highest stat spread in the game (now at only 50% HP loss per activation, instead of 90%), and Sieglinde gets one of the most hilariously powerful ganking skills around with the right setup. The only odd one out is--funny you should mention her--Wurm, who has no multiplier on her skill and thus only serves a purpose as a skill bot. A costly skill bot, at that.

It's true that a fair number of the imperial plats are strong as hell for their rarity. I'm disappointed that Helmine is actually a more solid unit, overall, than Wurm; I never like to see plats beating out blacks, given how fucking rare it is to roll a black and how costly it is to use them. Still, the other five WE blacks are good -- not broken, mind, but good.

With these blacks you're at liberty to go for whomever you like, Amanda is somewhat lackluster but compensates with her armor bonus and the others are solid endgame units. If you have good enough healers, then nothing less than level 5+ majin maps should be able to faze you, and these are far away on Nutaku's Aigis.

Despite still being broken as all getout, some of Aisha's roles can now be relegated to Leona, who is a free unit (or rather, hopefully will be on Nutaku). Consider her if you intend to try for Aisha just because of the power boost she brings.

Elania is very decent damage but very costly, worth it in places also she has status immunity which is great for dracolichs and other parlysis enemys.
Garania is great for nuking the whole map on skill and also buffs herself and Sasha,Sasha is great for her dodge to units in range and fast attack speed. I'd use Garania and then Sasha over Patra most of the time unless Patras range is essential.
Marius is also great with the most range offskill of any bishop or mage but lacks compared to what you have.
Raven is well liked with her high assasination chances but with such a good team she loses out and could easily be skipped.

Of course. The ATK version at max skill level gives 30% assault. That alone makes it worth it, plus you'll be able to MLB them in the future IIRC.
Now as for which weapon, it depends on which soul you use the most, or plan on using the most. This in turns depends on your himes. Going for Jeanne is generally the safest choice, especially if you plan on fighting off-element. Her Chorus goes very well with Beelz. However, if you have Pluto you have the damage cut already, and if you have Hades you have the ATK down, which might make you want to switch to some other soul. Also if you don't have good def debuff and you have to take Snipe you can't take Black Propaganda which might be a problem.
If you don't have Dark Amaterasu, the other obvious choice would be Mordred for utility. However Mordred's ATK weapon has probably the worst secondary effect of all, which sucks. That said, Mordred does come with her mini-Snipe and Black Propaganda. If you're short on SSR himes, it might be the best choice.
Andromeda's is obviously viable and her ATK weapon is good. If you have Osiris however she will probably become fairly redundant.
A fourth choice would be Morgan's (assuming post fix skill when they'll manage to fix her) for various utility and massive berserk. This option is very end-gamy and benefits from a dream team greatly. Herakles also fits a similar role, but as a pure attacker.
Lastly, D'Art gun is the best standalone debuffing system you can buy. However, it comes with HP instead of ATK, and it's only useful insofar as you don't have good B and C debuffs, which as dark you should (eventually) have.

So yeah, think more about the Soul itself, and the weapon should follow. It can become quite a chore to farm the regalia once the initial new raid craze is over, so choose wisely.

Different anon, but I'd actually run Garania and Patra over Sasha and Odette. Patra gets an Attack multiplier on SAW, which is better than the situational skills of Sasha and Odette.
Raven like most Swordmasters, doesn't scale very well in end-game content though she's absolutely amazing for lower level players.

Alice is great, but you're right in that most Monks are rather subpar. Only the Gacha ones are any good imo. And you want either Aisha, Elyse, or Rion out of the current Nutaku Blacks.

Alice is great with SAW, she really ramps up her attack and health to great levels but needs relatively early placement to make the most of it, other monks on nutaku with the exception of Ur can be easily ignored.
With what you have aiming for blacks would have diminishing returns but yes, Aisha, Minerva or Rion would go great with what you have, possibly Ingrid for reducing MR for all your magic users.

If you plan to burn SC for a black, do it for Aisha, and only for her until you get her. There is not a single other black that reaches her level of brokenness, not even Elyse or Lapis, though they come close. Her combination of perks is unmatched to this day. Grace or Cornelia first, depending upon which you use more often. After those two, I'd say that Danchou would be a good choice. Gellius' SAW is nice if he's going to be your main tank, but Danchou pairs really well with Cornelia and his SAW allows him to function more as ranged support than another tank -- he basically turns into a reusable White Emperor. Zenobia or Gellius is your call, though if Zen is your main source of UP I would go for her first.

By my understanding, DMM does have a few promotions, but Nutaku has way more frequent and better value deals. For every 5000 point deal on DMM, you can probably expect thrice or more as many $10-20 deals. Of course, you'll also have to sort through some of the crappier deals, like the occasional $100+ step-ups.

Still, in the past month alone, I think we've had about six rainbow exchange tickets for $10-15 apiece. That's not even counting the step-up gachas that go higher (up to $55), but come with rainbow skill/dressblooms, and a gold ticket/skill/dressbloom on the previous step.

DMM's promotions are periodic and standardized, a rainbow of your choice for 5000 DMM points. There are some variations, but light spenders usually won't be interested in them. Nutaku's deals on the other hand vary from really good to atrociously bad on a case-by-case basis, and if you're unsure about an individual promotion you should definitely ask around for outside opinion on how good it is.

DMM is easily considered to be the better version and would be my pick, since the greater number of features, events and log-in campaigns is enough to compensate for the relative lack of paid deals. That said, Nutaku is a fairly respectable option if you're concerned about the language barrier, and its (reportedly) higher rainbow rates on the regular gacha is a strong draw even for free players.

Weather is the real dealbreaker on that map, Barbatos' arrows can be handled in any number of ways (I use Elyse + Shizuka, who can take on his second form in around 40 seconds at level 6) but the permanent HP damage + range cut is huge.

It's above-average for sure, their class perks are not outright incredible like demon summoners, dancers and frontline/backline tacticians (where even the subpar units can pull their weight solely because of their class) but baseline 400 range and massive attack for punching through armor are both good things to have.

Rosel and Aoba should get special mention as some of the better event characters, notably being free passes for the jungle and eastern maps (plus Aoba contributing heavily to budget Shuten tactics), and Dolce is a premier DPS unit for many majin maps due to her demon specialty, permanent skill and ability to deal damage from wonky positions. Socie is essentially a better Dolce in every way, while Ralph is the only lacking member of the class but even he is a decent investment if you're willing to raise male units.

Maurette is still really convenient for farming gold off of gazers and pegasi in wednesday and thursday dailies. Her aoe isn't the best around but it's sufficient for farming gold on groups of normal enemies. It's not like she costs a lot to level now either because of all the alegrias they throw at you.

Nadia or Erenia would be my pick, actually. My experience with Dahlia is that she's ideal for bursting down midbosses and intercepting magical/ranged enemies, but she doesn't do nearly as well on the tanking front, so she's not very suitable for higher-end bosses with physical damage. She and Thetis are also such excellent early game options that they may already be deployed elsewhere by the time you need a dedicated duelist, both are useful for their ability to ramp from tougher small fry like armors, wood golems and (with some healing support) minotaurs.

Nadia on the other hand brings incredible cleanup potential to the table and can comfortably take on things like the tougher golems, while Erenia has the rare status immunity passive that rarely comes into play but is crucial when it does (think the dracolich on Bifrons' stage). Raising Thetis/Dahlia as a stopgap option while working on Nadia/Erenia as an endgame duelist sounds like a good plan, having a good valkyrie will help with the UP demands of dragon riders anyway.

Shiena, Farangis, Leora and Rosa are good to start, I think. Shiena is good pre-AW but becomes amazing with her permanent SAW, keeping her alive is trivial so the HP cost isn't a problem. Farangis is a great archer, Rosa is a good secondary archer that does a whole host of other things (assassination, traps, weather immunity, regeneration) and three archers (these plus Bashira) isn't really overdoing it either. Leora has the invaluable 5% attack passive and, despite being somewhat harder to use, is about as potent as Uzume and synergizes with permanent skill units (Shiena, Viola, Kasumi, Farangis).

All your shrine units are great, though, so you're free to do as you like here. As for blacks, I save all my black armors for them. Using bronze/silver/gold fairies to get 3.37x experience on platcans is not a bad idea either.

If I can reach jungle maps yet, what's a good place to grind for exp/fodder after Base Scramble 2? Or do I just keep grinding it?

You can drop Shiena relatively unprotected in a lot of maps, actually. ~1500 EHP isn't exactly low, considering that she does stupid amounts of damage and will quickly kill whatever she's blocking. There's nothing wrong with letting her go into melee with a lesser/middling troll, werewolf, goblin jedi and the like, she only falls behind in demon-heavy maps where everything is magic-resistant.

Jeanne (which is the better version of Roland) + Amaterasu is not just viable, it's fairly optimal and as fire you ideally want to have Daji too which has even better synergy with Jeanne, making her probably the best soul for Fire.
