/jp/, I come to you in desperation. I have been trying to find some successful way of doing this. I want to download multiple images with the same tag from danbooru. Originally, I was just saving each image...but with about 5000 images this would of taken a while. Next, I tried using downthemall (A mass downloading tool) to download all the pictures...and it seemed to work great, one problem though, it downloaded the thumbnails. I seriously need to get this done, I've seen the script posted here before, you guys are my only hope. Please ;_;

Pic unrelated.

>Pic unrelated.
Or is it?

I don't know any such program, and I don't think every danbooru image is worth downloading, to be honest.

Not all of them are, I will sort through all of them afterwards- that's part of the point, I'm trying to get an archive of characters from most animes I enjoy, I don't like all of the pics but the ones I don't want I'd just delete them after the download was finished.

Anonymous of Russian Federation wrote a scripts that downloads all pictures with a specific tag from danbooru.

Try searching on /jp/ archive for it.

My bad? I don't want to turn this in the wrong direction but I think it would depend on context. It's three in the morning, I've had way too much caffeine today, and I just want to get this done. ;_; going through the archive now.

If you find the script, post it here?

OP Here, if you're on a Unix based system (OS X, Solaris, Any linux) you run the script "booru.pl" by typing
>perl booru.pl
danbooru is the site, obviously, and tag is replaced by the tag you want to download.

Not sure how/if you need to tweak it for windows.

>> No.1758069

>>1758065

- install ActivePerl
- unpack the file in some easy to remember folder like C:\booru
- go to Start > Run... and run "cmd".
- type "cd C:\booru"
- type "perl booru.pl danbooru TAG"
- ?????
- PROFIT

What if I hate all those Wakaba-ruled Boorus, and I want my Pixiv instead.

Sorry to bump this again, OP here, I got it to work after install a few modules I was missing, but now I am getting a lot of "######.jpg already exists. Skipping." It's still downloading pictures, but it seems to be at random! Any idea why? I do not already have those pictures, the directory I ran the script in is empty. Pic related, it's my current terminal screen.

>> No.1758132

Ugh, installing* a few modules, like I said it's been a long day. I'm surprised I even got the modules to install properly.

Yeah it's beyond my better judgment to post my screen on /jp/ but I don't really care, I'm just tired and want to get this working before I go to bed or I won't be able to sleep.

danbooru has a documented api. you should start there. it really isn't that hard, i wrote a script to mass import and tag (based on folder names) my image collection into a private danbooru.

maybe doing something for yourself will be for the better?

Ah okay...I might have a look through the code and see if I can figure it out, they don't have a README or changelog for reference, oh well. No reason to keep this thread going =) and screw the people who like to judge people based on their toolbar.

Not OP here

Question relating to that script: it works fine, but it seems to only get files rated questionable and lower, not explicit, despite trying to mess with the "-r --rating=" option.

Why?
