Seacats is a meme because the name of Seacat in eleven language (eleven is a meme because the name of Japanese people in Code Geass is eleven) (because eleven is the eleven country to be enslaved by the English empire in code geass) (the English empire enslaved a lot of countries during the colonization and the Japanese (who were never enslaved by the English empire) like to make English cameos) (the Japanese likes the English empire because they had an empire based on a island long ago, like the English, and they feel something of a kindred spirit) really means Sea-cat, and sea-cat reads Umi-neko in Japanese, like Umineko, the name of the series (which really means seagull, because Umineko means seagull in Japanese, even though it reads sea-cat).

It's actually the other way around. Umineko literally means seacat, but it's the name of the black-tailed gull because of it's cry. Quote from Wikipedia:

I don't think it's about the studio. Even Ufotable wouldn't do the series justice, as amazing as the animation would be during the fight scenes. The manga did a relatively good job adapting the story though. Hell, Episode 8's adaptation was arguably even better than the original in some regards. It may be true that Umineko can't be perfectly adapted into other mediums, but that doesn't mean an adaptation of it can't at least be good. At the very least, I think there are a lot of people who could handle it much better than DEEN did.

>> No.17497257

>>17496984
Ufotable seems like an obvious choice, seeing as how they already showed up DEEN with Fate. I'm not sure how well they'd manage to handle the slower, less intense parts of the vn though. Shaft might be a good pick in that regard since they've got plenty of experience with dialogue-heavy shows, and are able to spend entire episodes focusing on conversations and inner monologue without making them seem boring.

DEEN just isn't that great, but what I'm saying is that no studio could do it justice. Unless they really take their time and do a cour per episode. Regrettably, Umineko didn't get that popular in Japan so it'll never happen.

>> No.17497315

>>17497268
>I'd still want to see a Chiru adaptation just too see
A Chiru adaptation carries some inherent danger regardless of how it actually turns out. Currently, the incomplete anime forces any new fans looking to get into Umineko to try either the manga or the vn if they want to see the full story. However, that would all change once an anime of Chiru is made. While it would probably attract a larger number of fans to the series, it'd also cause a huge dropoff in the percentage of prospective new fans who end up giving the vn a shot.

>Don't anime adaptations specifically exist to promote manga or LNs or VNs?
Only when they're incomplete. The studio will adapta a season or two, but usually not the entire series, which is kind of my point. If a complete anime adaptation were to exist, it doesn't matter how bad it is, most people would just watch it without bothering to check out the source material.

It was made after EP6, and is different from older Doubletrice theories. I know it's stupid to say, but the last part made me feel anxious lot of times because I thought Rika was trapped in a dream word or something. Everything was way too perfect and cartoonish and I was expecting the worst and then it turned out that was all. The manga is fine, but it doesn't have the stellar soundtrack the visual novel is known for. The art for the manga is still great, in case the visual novel's amateur art is too much for you. Chances are the sprites will grow on you, and you're reading it for the story anyway.

I would suggest holding off on that mod for a first read. While the voice acting is very well done, it forces you to read at their pace instead of your own. Plus it gives one a good reason to read through it a second time.

>> No.17516425

>>17516399
The one on steam should be good. You can freely switch between two sets of sprites for it. It's also an updated translation of the old fan translation that floated around. However, only the first half of series is available on steam. We don't have any word on when the rest of it is being released to steam, but hopefully it's by the end of this year since the steam version was released a year ago.
I would also suggest reading Higurashi first, as it's a sort of prequel to Umineko, but not entirely necessary to read it first.

What has education do with acting? Also, friendly reminder that most of the episodes are stories written by either Sayo or someone else, so Shannon and Kanon appearing together is completely possible BECAUSE THEY ARE STORIES.

In the "real world", they obviously don't appear together (because it would defy all logic), and obviously Sayo has Genji and Kumasawa's help with everything.

And honestly, the strongest argument I have for this is...even if they appear similar, why the hell would anyone suspect that there is a person dressing up, wearing fake boobs and basically playing two individuals?

The very idea is so nonsensical they would dismiss it right away, so them accepting Kanon and Shannon having some similarities makes more sense than thinking "hmm, maybe Kanon is actually Shannon".

>Higurashi Hou in 2014 was your most recent addition to the series. Is there any chance you’ll will write more Higurashi in the future?
I have no plans to continue Higurashi at the moment. It may be a cliche, but I can only say “I’ve moved on from Hinamizawa”. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t ever write for it again. At the Hinamizawa pilgrimage tour last year, I prepared a script featuring Keiichi and Satoko. I can’t say for sure, but maybe someday I will write for Higurashi again. If that day comes, I hope you’ll support me once more.

>What about the latest entry in the When They Cry series that spawned from Higurashi?
Up until now I’ve mostly been working on it in my free time, as a way of taking a break from my outside work. Now that all my outside work has been completed, I can finally buckle down and work on it properly. I am now beginning to name the characters, and will be drawing illustrations of them soon.
Like with Umineko, it’s much easier to write the characters once I’ve given them a name and face. When I wrote Higurashi, the scenario was already complete before I drew any illustrations of the characters.
In Rose Guns Days and TRianThology, I had various other illustrators help draw the characters, but this time I’d like to once again try drawing all the characters myself. I’m sure it will be difficult, but I plan to stick to it. I will do my best to make sure the game is ready to be released next year.

>Please give a final message for all the fans of Higurashi.
Thanks to all the fans who have supported over Higurashi’s long life. Thank you very much. I don’t think we could have come this far in 15 years without everyone’s support. I am currently working hard on the next When They Cry game, so I would be happy if you continue to support our work in the future. I look forward to continuing to work with you all.
