Marisa has a larger hitbox than Reimu thats why. Applies to most if not all games after EoSD as well.

I give up. I can't last more than thirty seconds or so. Up until the first fairies that shoot blue bullets or so. I don't think the first stage of IN Lunatic was made to be grazed. The first bullets don't track, they just shoot in your general direction.

That's a good question. I never bothered to check if the bonus to the point modifier was worth the loss of points for a spell card if you're only running a single stage. Also, pic so this post isn't entirely useless. Was mildly difficult stalling myself to reach for the home key.

Here's my embarrassingly bad attempt.
I advise you to keep your finger off the bomb key or your bomb reflex will likely ruin your run.

Forgot that it goes straight to the menu if you lose all your lives. 29 mil, Marisa A, died to Scarlet Gensokyo. Near the end of her life bar Remilia kept sending a large wave seconds after her invulnerability from my bombing wore off. So much for powering through it.

Looking back at the Wriggle screencap it's obvious that I don't know what 'last second' means, so here's another to make up for it.

Because I don't know how to edit posts and only lurk: Figured out how the strand shots worked and had another go at it. Best I could manage was 5106. I probably have my timing off on when to bomb / graze Capture Web. On Filled Miasma I just sit in the center then bomb when the red bullets return and graze the purple ones, but I may be better off trying to fit a bomb earlier so I can graze the red bullets that fly off on the edges.

Decided 'Fuck it' after that second shot and rushed through the other ones. I could have probably beaten my highscore by a fair margin if I took my time instead.

I agree that the spellcards are the easiest part of this. You really have to be good at bullet herding to make it past the big groups of fairies.
