Well, I totally believe Tanaka when he sort of talk about his "perfectionnist" side when coming to the group fitting to what he want to do.

We are talking about the guy who refused to have the members of BRGH appearing after their last live, even after a 30min encore call, because it was after midninght on the 31st and BRGH was supposed to end who 2017 (but who came himself brohug the TO). On the other hand, Saeki having some difficulties to get totally "fired up" with the group sometimes was also what made me cheering her up (was hoping to see her overcome this), so a bit sad that it was also the reason for her leaving.

This iteration has a fun dynamic, with Meicha/Rere playing the extroverts one, Kai doing Kai stuff and thus not talking a lot, and then Saeki and Karin a bit more in the "shy" mode.

I think he's a cool guy!

As human being, as far I can testify, he is a cool guy. He is also pretty laid back on certain stuff, like letting members freely interact with fans when their cheki "duties" are over and they feel like it, or organizing free and "off" events in parks and stuff on a regular basis. Not speaking that in BRGH era he let his fanbase going absolutely wild and not respecting events rules (almost fighting with the security at the TIF). According to him, said event organizers where was he was forced to bring a bit of order when TTTs started. He also jokes pretty often with fan, like shouting "[ex wota oshi name], I'm sorry!" when taking cheki pic of said wota with a new TTTs girl.

On the other hand, when it comes to "shaping" a group, he seems pretty tough. I mean, TTTs started almost directly why an average of 3 to 4 events per weeks (best part was when he (mistakenly) booked two event at the same morning). And yes, he seems the type to get pretty fired up and shouting at people when the results is not what he likes (I means, he literally did it on some fans while on the floor). Concerning the enforcement of the rules, it ended with a tweet that said, IIRC "Ok, I'll not loose against people who don't respect the rules, next one who do this will the banned from events".

I've got an otaku friend heading to Tokyo for a week or so quite soon, and while he has no great personal interest in idols himself, he still wants to experience an idol show for the sake of it. Are chekis always sold at lives, or only when specified on websites? I was thinking of asking him to go to either a Maison book girl or Cy8er event if it fits his schedule.

I know what "scenecore" refers to because I grew up when that "scene" was hot in the early 2000s but also realize that it is exclusively used to refer to poor quality music from "local" bands that attempted to copy more popular bands and does not actually refer to any single genre of music. It is thus useless as a classification for music outside of being a derogatory term for bands that you don't like, much like we use the term "faggot" to describe the kind of people who latch on to it as a legitimate term for classifying music.
