Hollywood's making an 8-part movie franchise out of Umineko. Who do you cast? How would they call it? What would you change? Would it sell?

Speaking of Nightly, how about Keira Knightley for Shannon/Kanon? She's flat as an ironing board and could portray both genders easily. The trick would be how they'd do it without letting everyone know they're the same person? Add it into the narrative that they're twins, and then it actually turns out they're the same person?
Still as shit of a twist as the actual one so it could work.

I dunno man, a lot of these young-looking characters are gonna have to become older for these adaptations. Child actors are shit and could never convey Lambda or Bern, or Erika.
Actually, now that I think of it, who was that girl from the Twilight films? I've never seen them but isn't she known for basically showing no emotion at all, ever? Perfect for Bern.

If this ever gets made, you know they're gonna get people of different skin colour in there. Now, I don't have a problem with that. I just wonder who they'd replace.
You can't have it be one of the servants, or there'd be trouble. And no one in the family could be black either.
Either Gohda or Nanjo would be black in these films. My guess is Nanjo.
It'd sure be a shame sir, if after all that cotton-pickin' my ancestors did for my old friend Kinzo, who treated them well mind you, very well. It'd sure be a darned shame if I'd have to end a life after having saved sooooo many. Now pull your trigger, n*gger, lessee who's faster, yo gun or mah needles!

See, it's harder than you think.
Hideyoshi works, they could even keep him Japanese and keep his Sengoku Era knowledge character trait intact.

She is like a branch that sprouted from the being of Furude Rika. Rika wandered about aimlessly for so long that Bernkastel was born in the meta world in order to compete with Lambda, find all the pieces and finish the game. She's still nameless at the time though.

In the end, Saikoroshi-hen, Rika names her time-jumping self Bernkastel. However I, nor anybody else really thinks of that particular Rika as Bern. Time-jump Rika is just Rika. The Rika born in the meta world must have seen this name and taken it for herself then, and she becomes the one we recognize as Bernkastel. Bern slips away with Lambda and lives for who knows how long in the meta world of witches until one day she finds Beatrice's world.

The meta world is the world of fiction, stories written and read by witches. For Bernkastel to be born originally, perhaps somebody in a prime universe wrote a story about events taking place in Hinamizawa. I don't really want to connect the structure of Higurashi and Umineko too much though.

I forget, did Rika sign her poems with "Bernkastel" before Saikoroshi-hen? Because that doesn't really make much sense.

I don't think Hanyuu did anything like that. The dialogue I posted, the intro to Minagoroshi is where Bern is first introduced. And she says she's been around pretty long. At the time Hanyuu was being an idiot stomping around and apologizing, she only grows a spine at the end of minagoroshi when the culprit is revealed. I don't think she created Bern. Nor Featherine who became absent during the game, causing the need for Bern in the first place.

Bernkastel was said to be Rika's negative emotions somewhere, you're right. But I don't think they were "taken away" from Rika. Afterall, Rika still has her many memories of the dark years of despair. You can't really just take someone's emotions away, if the memories still remain. The point is that she chooses to be happy rather than despair. Not that it was physically taken away.

There's actually a point there. It has a lot of western influences. It's basically And Then There Were None on fucking steroids, and Agatha Christie is fucking worshipped in the west. Have you seen the BBC adaptation of And Then There Were None they did last year? It was absolutely amazing. They had an all-star cast of British actors and the ratings went through the roof.
Sure, some things would be changed. No stakes, less magic battles. But if they focused more on the murders and the mystery behind the Rokkenjima Massacre it could very well work.
If they get another cast of well-known British actors and set it on an island off the coast of Scotland or something, it could very well work.

Then again, as you said, Umineko isn't well known over here. I'm just saying that the prospect of an adaptation isn't that far out of reach as you may think. If they tweak things a bit and make it more western, it could work very well. We just need one smart insider guy at Hollywood to get this shit going.

I have spoken much about Bernkastel's origins and how she is not Rika, nor entirely related to her. I assume that I have a comprehensive understanding of Bernkastel's origins.

Bernkastel was born out of the collected negative memories of Rika over the 100 year journey from Hanyuu. She did this twofolds. Firstly, to give Rika a greater fighting chance to eventually defeat fate. Everything Rika represents, Bernkastel is the opposite in every way. This is because Bernkastel is the cynical portion of Rika as she started to lose hope.

At the beginning of ep 7, there is a faceless person talking directly to the reader. In the manga, this person is shown to be a Rika lookalike, however, she does not seem to have a name. In Rei, Rika wakes up in an alternative kakera where everything is perfect for everyone except for her. Rika goes on a drunken rant and accepts that her 100 year journey has made her different from the original Rika. She dubs her kakera hoping personality 'Furuderika Bernkastel', a combination of the wine and herself, as children do not drink wine.

After the events of Rei, Hanyuu says that she has a new friend but refuses to say who it is. Clearly, this is the Rika lookalike, now named Frederica Bernkastel. Hanyuu was the one who purposefully thew Rika into that world. And contrary to popular interpretation, that kakera is not a kakera but a dream. Because Hanyuu enforces to Rika that it was a dream, people have suspected that perhaps it did happen, but this is unlikely. A kakera can only change so much due to Lambda setting up the game. All events until a decade before the events of the story are fixed. There are some variations, but causality is fixed. As such, the changing of gender of someone 8 generations ago, from male to female, to make Rika the 9th generation instead of 8th is something completely outside the gameboard. For those reasons, it proves that Hanyuu created a dream to put Rika into.

Hanyuu did this for two reasons. She wanted Rika to appreciate the value of having one life, and to give the Rika lookalike a true identity so that she might finally have a friend. However, Frederica Bernkastel rejected this prison, broke her chains and ventured into the meta to destroy whatever hope she could find.

Bernkastel is essentially the worst aspects of Rika that was denied a happy ending. A complete opposite of Rika in every way. A monster who deserves nothing less than dead. And the funny thing is that she knows that. She confidently opens her arms to anyone who wants to kill her and desires it.

Rika told of her poems to K1 but it's not known if she signed them. There is a poem that shows that Rika is not the creator of the poem.

>I am who I am; Frederica Bernkastel.
>Furude Rika and Frederica are different. Shame on you if you thought so.
>My age? I've gotten bored with it, so I've quit counting.

>Huh? Are you speculating that the real identity of the Oyashiro-sama is me?
>Giggle giggle. You are so insolent.
>The Oyashiro-sama is the Oyashiro-sama. You want me to introduce it to you? It's rather shy.
>It gets frightened easily so don't scare it, okay? >However, it seems that you are the one that's scared.

Basically, throughout Higurashi, there are two Rikas at any given time. The template Rika, and a copy Rika.

The template Rika exists between the fragments, so we never truly meet her, but basically, at the star of every 'loop', the template Rika's 'soul' or whatever is copied into the native Rika of that fragment, overwriting it with her personality and (some of) her memories.

Once a copy Rika dies, all of her memories are copied back into the template Rika, and so she can be said to have 'lived through' that 'loop' despite it technically being a copy of her that did so.

Now, things go haywire once we get to the final 'loop', Matsuribayashi-hen. Because, you see, that's when the miracle finally happen, where Rika survives. Except, hold on, that's not "Rika" getting her wish granted, but "a Rika". See, that's the copy Rika who gets to experience that. The template Rika, the backup Rika, the Rika who remembers every single death she's ever experienced, SHE doesn't get to experience her survival, because the memories of a copy Rika only get uploaded into her when she dies, and the final Rika is unique because she was the only one who didn't die.

In fact, the template Rika realizes that it's IMPOSSIBLE for her to ever experience the miracle of her survival, since even if she did die, it would mean that she didn't survive. In a way, even though the miracle happened, it never did.

This, most of all, broke the template Rika and turned her into a witch. Remember, this is essentially the Minagoroshi-hen Rika, the Rika who finally had her hopes revived after having just about given up for a while now, the one who swore in her last moments to take down Takano no matter what, realising that her hopes and convictions were impossible to fulfill.

I'm not sure where Saikoroshi-hen stands in relation to the template Rika, since the copy never actually died (I'm thinking the template might have been a witch already at this point and witnessed it from the outside) but it's very important for the copy Rika and the origin of the template's new name.

Up to this point, both the template and the copies have thought of themselves as just 'Rika' but it's at this point that the final Rika acknowledges both the template and the copies created from it as being a distinct entity from s they replace, calling herself(es?) "Frederica Bernkastel". At the end, that's where Furude Rika and Frederica Bernkastel become two separate people, as the copy Rika resolves to live simply as "Rika". In contrast, the template doesn't, because it's realized the hopelessness of herself striving to be Furude Rika, and so becomes simply "Frederica Bernkastel".

At that point, Bernkastel, already jaded and untrusting, is mentored by self-admitted monster Featherine Augustus Aurora and is twisted even further into the complete bitch we know and love today.

>This is because Bernkastel is the cynical portion of Rika as she started to lose hope.

This is mostly what I believe. I think Bernkastel developed over time in the form of negative feelings as Rika went through the loops. Bernkastel's influence can be seen in Rika during those moments when Rika looses hope, like when she taunts Rena in Tsumihoroboshi.

Though I wouldn't say she's "the opposite" of Rika, since she originally did come from her. I think she's more like her shadow, an ugly part of Rika that eventually took it's own form and split from her.

I also think that it was only after splitting that she stopped calling herself "Frederica Bernkastel" and started going by just "Bernkastel", in order to show that she was no longer connected to Furude Rika.

It feels like you're making it out to be like Rika's got some kind of split personality. At this point, at least, there's nothing like that going on. This is just Rika dropping her mask for once and letting her real jaded self shine through.

In a way"Bernkastel" herself was never really friends with them, Rika was. Honestly I think Bern isn't evil as she appears. A witch to a kakera is like a reader to a book. When you've spent thousands of years reading tragic books not much phases you. You want crazier, more gruesome stories. You become cynical and cold to the book's portrayed emotions. But maybe you still have a softspot for your favorite stories. Or even the first book you read.

Bern treats Battler's family like shit, but they were a sinister and terrible family to begin with. That's not to excuse her actions, but they're just evil little "characters" to her. I don't think Bern would ever torture the pieces of Hinamizawa in the same way. So it's not like she can just turn off her bitch like a switch. But I believe there is goodness in her, the part of her linked to the old Hinamizawa game.

Extremely deep.
I mean
>main character of Higanbana
>named Marie

The signs are pretty much there.

And then there's the theory that Higurashi Outbreak is a story writtten by Takano as she's credited with Ryukishi as the writer of the story in the story story in Higurashi Daybreak, iirc.

And then years ago !Nipaa put forth the theory that all of Higurashi was written by Rika as a coping mecanism, similar to Umineko, but that was just him trolling, until people took it seriously.

And then there's Akasaka literally written a book called Higurashi trying to uncover the conspiracy. And Battler reading a book called Higurashi at the beginning of ep 1.

The rabbit hole is so fucking deep, that we end up meeting Alice in the meta in Ryukishi's last story. It's that deep.

She couldn't really. Well, she could probably go to Hinamizawa with Voyager powers, heck based off of the Takano-doesn't-become-a-supervillain timeline she probably has, but becoming friends with everyone isn't something she could do. Bern is a loner who shuns other people because she feels that it opens her up to pain and betrayal. One could guess that that stems from her feeling betrayed by her- rather, Rika's - friends, who got her to open up again after decades just to make her ultimate failure hurt that much more. Or maybe she'd just be afraid of getting close to them again. Either way, there's no way she'd be able to bring herself to befriend them again/for the first time. Besides, with how much she's changed as a witch, I really doubt that she'd be willing/able to live in the mortal world for an extended period of time.

One thing I have little doubt of, though, is that she HATES Rika.

With the whole anti-racism thing going on in media, i doubt that. Just like you said, Gohda would quite work as a black guy and maybe hideyoshi as a hispanic or Kurasawa as the only japanese.

>everyone has realistic hair colors
That is obvious

>they don't even bother using makeup to make Shannon and Kanon look like different people and Yasu's spoiled in the credits/marketing anyway
Maybe they could change the twist a bit, making Kanon never existing at all so they can use two different actors for Shanon and Kanon. The Yasu spoiled in marketing can be avoidable

>the logic battles and half the tea parties are cut for time
Nah, i think the witch battles and other actions scenes would be butchered, since they dont look quite fit for a mistery movie

Whatcha' doin, seacats?

>> No.16305275

Not good at mysteries? Here's a seacat themed liar puzzle. No need to submit your answer.

Kinzo was killed in the servants' room at 12:00 p.m, October 31st. Later that day, five of the servants that were on duty were rounded up and questioned. Each servant made four statements, three of which were true and one false.
One of these servants definitely killed Kinzo. Who did it?

Genji:
>I did not kill Kinzo
>I never owned a revolver in my life
>Kanon saw me today
>I was in the servants' room earlier today
Shannon:
>I did not kill Kinzo
>Kanon did not enter the guesthouse today
>I don't know where Gohda was at the time of the murder
>I was with Genji in the servants' room today
Kanon:
>I did not kill Kinzo
>I didn't go into the guesthouse today
>I didn't see Genji all day
>Gohda lied when he said I did it
Gohda:
>I was in the guesthouse when Kinzo was murdered
>I never killed anyone
>Kanon is the killer
>Shannon knows where I was at the time of the murder
Kumasawa:
>Genji lied when he said he never owned a revolver
>The murder was committed on Halloween
>Gohda was in the guesthouse at the time of the murder
>One of us five is guilty

Stupid CAPTCHA deleting my message.

I feel that the outline of the left breast is a good start, but with some small issues.
You have a nude model of her, but the breast outline seems to portray a bit of binding or squishing, as if she were still wearing clothes. In a relaxed, clotheless state, I believe her breasts would naturally separate and create a slight gap.
And with that newly created space, it would have her right breast, the one closest to us, face slightly off to the side.

Another small point, regarding perspective, would be that her closest breast to us is slightly smaller that the one in the back. You can do a simply measurement with a pixel line and confirm this. If the right breast is closest to us, wouldn't that one be /slightly/ bigger?

That is all I can say. Thank you for accepting input/critique. Keep up the good work.

I'm no artist, but that definitely seems a lot more natural to me now.
Also, it's just hitting me now, but if her breasts are naturally close together, will you draw that V pattern that sometimes appears on top?
That's entirely up to you.

For anyone who's having trouble getting started with this, beginning with Kanon's and Gohda's statements is the best way to go because Kannon makes two statements that must both be true or both be false and two lies are not permitted.

I think that's the right length and "angle", but something about the endpoint on the opposite end of the breast curve is throwing me off.
Without the V, it looks fine. But when you add it, the two points make it seem like top of the breast is attached a bit high and a bit close.
Is that how it looks like to you, or am I turn weird?

I was thinking about maybe dropping the endpoint near her armpit a bit, and see if playing with that could possibly improve it. It felt a little high to me when you compare it to the one on her left side. Here's a quick edit for a comparison.

I also shaved off very, very few pixels from the V pattern. In my head, I'm imagining a sort of band that starts from the bottom edge of the breast, travels across the marshmallow-y curves and comes to a rest on the other side.
This is my reason for cropping and dropping a few pixels.

I think the reason her right arm seems a bit wide at the shoulder is due to the way it's being bent backwards, causing it to stick out more. Meanwhile, the opposite shoulder is partially hidden behind her breast, and you can't see where the arm connects to it. Perhaps instead of changing the shoulders, I could fix the issue by changing the angle of the upper arm so that the shoulder looks just a tiny bit thicker.

As for the cleavage V, I get what you're saying. I think the angle makes it a bit difficult to pull off, but shaving it down the way you did looks a lot better.

The upper arm change is completely up to you.

I don't know how many times I have to explain this. Higurashi, at its heart, is a typical and cliche harem. It just is. Think about it.
Boy changes school and is surounded by beautiful girls whom he has fun with every day, but because he's dense he never forms romantic relationships with any of them.
It's as cliche as they come.

And look at the cast.
Rena, a typical moeblob airhead.
Mion, a typical tsundere tomboy. Even her long skirt reflects her personality, as those with long skirts tend to be boyish and aggressive.
And then you get two archetype loli. A little brat ojou-sama and then a typical silent but smarter than her peers loli.

Everything about the Higurashi cast was designed to make you believe from the start that everything about it is cliche. That's the entire point. So that when the horror comes, it comes literally out of nowhere. The reason why USODA is so shocking is because a moeblob airhead typically never goes to the literal opposite extreme. And as the story progresses, each of these cliche characters are given depth until they break from their archetypical characters and become actual human characters with dreams, hopes and flaws.

It's the reason why animeonlyfags hate Higurashi Kira while those who actually read the VN love that OVA. The OVA is about the gang shenanigans and has no real mystery or horror. It goes back to its roots because that's the entire basis of the story; a harem. But for animeonlyfags who never experienced the harem SoL moments from the VN, all they enjoy is the horror aspect and hate how everything is silly in Kira.

I think it's because he's a feminist and read a lot of books on gender.
There's a really interesting part when Battler meets Ronove for the first time. They get along almost immediately and joke and whatnot. Beatrice laments that she wishes she could do the same and that guys usually become bros the moment they meet. Whenever two people of the opposite sex meet, there is always sexual tension, even if both are unconscious about it.

That part speaks to a general observation but also likely from something he read from a textbook.

>It would explain why the women in Umineko tend to get more development than the men.
It might just be me, but that applies to nearly all his stories. K1, Tomitake, Oiishi, and Irie interesting people but they're not flawed or broken like the female cast. It seems it's done on purpose that his female characters are fleshed out and interesting specifically because they are filed with suffering. While, in comparison, the men in the story are decent but not as interesting characterize than the women.

But that's just me and there's no way to explain it in a way that won't get bitched.

>>16311814
I agree. Unless romance is a major part of the story, sex scenes tend to feel like they're just shoehorned in. If there were to be any, they would either need to be separated from the actual story in a spin-off, or merely implied to have happened off-screen. But as >>16311824 said, Higurashi is meant to be a story of friendship, so such things would still feel out of place.

Though I think it would be much easier to fit such things in Umineko, since romantic love is such a huge theme there.

>> No.16311930

>>16311887
I don't mean that K1 and Battler don't have depth, but they don't have emotional depth.
Battler is essentially Mion's ''the more you push him in a corner, the harder he comes back'' as he tries desperately to hide his nihilsm.
K1 is definitely Ryukishi's self interest, he even admits so himself, but when you read him, he's not entirely interesting until ep 6 when you learn more about him. Though that's not entirely the fault of Ryukishi imo, since making an actual good first person avatar character that isn't a beta boring shit or a I'M SUCH A MOTHERFUCKING ALPHA I'M BADASS bullshit like Grisasia or SnK. It's hard to get a good middle ground but K1 and Battler fit that so it's fine.

It's just that it seems purposeful that the men don't have as much depth as the women and it makes his female characters very interesting.
It's the reason why I have such respect for Ryukishi as a writer.

>Unless romance is a major part of the story, sex scenes tend to feel like they're just shoehorned in.
Sex scenes tend to be seen as 'rewards' for the reader for reading. Fanservice in a way. And depending on your tolerance for them, they're either decent or completely annoying.

>> No.16311991

>>16311930
I think the playful attitude Battler and Keiichi both have helped to establish their personalities early on, after which their interactions with various characters in different situations served to flesh them out. Also, they both have a tendency to screw things up, which kept them from seeming like some perfect Mary Sue.

> I'M SUCH A MOTHERFUCKING ALPHA I'M BADASS bullshit like Grisasia
On an unrelated note, I actually liked Grisaia's mc because his initial cool impression ended up being misleading.

>they're either decent or completely annoying.
For me it depends on how good the game is. The way I see it, a crappy game is one that makes you want to skip the story to get to the sex scenes, while a good game is one that makes you want to skip the sex scenes to get back to the story.

Girls at a young age start their periods younger when they lose their father figure. This is an evolutionary benefit that makes girls more suitable to have children and not be killed. When Satoko's father divorsed, Satoko was surrounded by new fathers at such a frequent basis that she was unable to become attached to them. This is why Satoko developped breasts at such a young age.
This is similar for Takano. She lost her parents in that accident and went to the orphanage. Slightly after that, she started her period and it's shown in the manga that she developped breasts when her grandfather adopted her.

So, well, it's not 'technically' explained in the story, but the reasons are clearly there. Rika did not develop breasts at a young age because she still had Father Kimiyoshi whom she knew at a young age.

The masturbating part is probably the somber aspect of Rika's suffering. She was so broken and felt nothing that she masturbated to feel some sense of joy. Her own body as a tool to give her pleasure before she dies. She didn't do it because she wanted sex or because she was horny, but because she wanted to feel alive.
It's sad.

That interpretation is just plain depressing. I'd rather believe that Rika does it because she's still capable of experiencing normal desire rather than that she's only using the pleasure as an outlet for her mental fatigue.

>> No.16312989

>>16312961
A girl doesn't typically have those desires until they become a teenager. Satistically, a very large number of girls don't learn about masturbation until it's told to them or they find out by accident. Unlike boys that feel the urge while they become preteens, girls do not feel that urge. So, to me, it's very likely plausible that Hanyuu told Rika how to masturbate, knowing it would feel awkward, just in the vain hope that it might give her some pleasure. Not thinking of anyone or because she wanted sex.
I've read and have been in that state of depression. It's the worst possible kind of depression. You feel as though your body is more relaxed, happy and good as it releasing serotonin but you don't feel happy, just more miserable as the high leaves.

It seems hard to imagine Hanyuu resorting to teaching her such things.

>You feel as though your body is more relaxed, happy and good as it releasing serotonin but you don't feel happy, just more miserable as the high leaves.

Considering that girls never find out unless they're told or find out by accident, I find it unlikely. I don't think it's clear at all that she became aware of those feelings. I just imagine Hanyuu teaching such a thing because she's a cunt.

>Isn't that how it is for everyone when they first start pleasuring themselves, until they get used to the backlash caused by the sudden wave of hormones that accompanies a climax?
It's the scientific detailing of the release of seratoning during climax but you feel a sense of happiness after each time. It's the reason preteens happen to masturbate uncontrollably to get that high. It's more common than people think but when mixed with depression, it causes an opposite reaction.

I think you misunderstand. Serotonin gives you a rush but when you are actually depressed, such release of neurotransmitters doesn't entirely make you have happy feelings and just amplifies your depression afterwards.

Who's up for a Christmas mystery?

Christmas has come to Rokkenjima, and the entire family is invited for a Christmas party. Unfortunately Kinzo does not want to appear. When the family come to investigate him they get no answer when they knock on the door. The entire family keeps knocking and shouting, but Kinzo gives no reply. The parents start to fear for his safety and Krauss orders the servants to open the door. They inform him though that they had to turn in their master keys earlier that day to Kinzo. Eventually Krauss orders the servants to break down the door. The fetch an axe from the garden shed. Krauss wails at the study door three times until a large enough hole appears. He opens the door with his hand from the inside.
Inside, everyone finds Kinzo in his chair, dead. Shot through the skull.

Upon invistigating the crime scene they found all windows were locked, and no sign of a killer.

Also, while I love the showgirl skirt. I think it covers to much. Maybe I could try shrinking it's length. I also think that regardless of what we decide on, leaving the tie will be a good idea.

The stomach, probably. There's something about it being covered and being exposed. Like a girl revealing her legs when you only see them through nylons.

>Also, while I love the showgirl skirt. I think it covers to much.
The only reason I kept it was because the hand was not holding onto her thighs.

We can keep the skirt as the secondary lewd that is less naked and remove the skirt as the near full lewd. That would probably be the best compromise.

The tie is always lewd.

Since this is a Christmas mystery, I will accuse "Santa Clause" as being an extra person on the island, being neither a relative of the Ushiromiyas nor a servant.

Perhaps Santa managed to enter Kinzo's study because Kinzo invited him in.
When the door was left wide open, the killer shot at Santa from just outside the study and missed, killing Kinzo by accident. The killer panicked and Santa managed to use one of the master keys to lock himself in the study to protect himself, unwillingly becoming an accomplice.

So why was Kai so boring? It's like they dragged out a short story as much as they could and none of the characters were interesting. I get that it's supposed to be about explaining what the series is really about but I think it had a poor execution, I guess it's because the only meta character was the protagonist and not the antagonist or anyone else so it really felt like a meaningless battle between an eternal being and pawns that don't know any better, could have been more interesting that other way. Ep 6.
Everything about it is perfect. And the manga improves on that perfection.

>Rena development
>plot recall from ep 1
>everything becomes into focus
>K1 backstory
>that whole Friends are shit and K1's speech about friendship
>still some mystery about what is going on and Rika being mysterious

To explain why Ep 6 is so great, I'd have to explain how Higurashi structured its mystery. To put it short, Ryukishi purposefully tricked the reader into believing conspiracies theories and paranoia. After ep 5, the reader understands that there is no grand conspiracy, the Sonozaki are not behind anything, but Rena thinks there is. She tells K1 who believes her but then laughs at how silly it is after talking to Mion. She references Takano talking about aliens and shit and how the whole thing is a silly B grade sci fi romeo and juliette story. And yet, this is the backstory truth of Hanyuu.
Ryukishi used the literal truth and presented it as insane to make fun of a fake conspiracy theory that is based on falsehoods.

The manga ending of ep 6 is also brilliant
>WE DID IT, WE STOPPED TRAGEDY!
>The End
>black page
>black page
>black page
>huh? The story is over, why did you turn the page?
>oh well, EVERYONE STILL DIE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Fucking Ryukishi.
I also really like the change he added before the gang had their talk on friendship. Originally, the gang decided to go see Rena and find some fun item to cheer her up. They looked around and happened to find the cut bodies. That wasn't edgy enough so, in the manga, Ryukishi has the gang find Rena cutting up the bodies.

Ep 6 is just perfect all around.

Interesting. So, my line of thinking is that one of the two, killer or accomplice, must have been a servant of the One-Winged Eagle. They would be the only ones who could be admitted into the study in the first place, to kill Kinzo, but also the only ones who would be trusted with that key. Mind you, they could have simply looted the key out of his pocket after he died. I suspect Genji is probably the accomplice in this situation, though really that's just a shot in the dark. I've thought so hard about the key, that I haven't really thought of "who"

Super tired. Glad I'm on the right track, though. I suspect that the 2 black truth's that are important are the "Time" that Kinzo was killed and that the room smelled of perfume. I suspect this means that Kinzo was dead before the rest of the family arrived, limiting the murder to Jessica, Natsuhi, Shannon and possibly Kumasawa, though Shannon and Natsuhi are my prime suspects. Having Shannon and Genji as the Culprit and Accomplice though... It's too easy.

I just wanted a nice Christmas Mystery, but it's been dragging on a bit. Ideally it'd be solved before the New Year, or the end of the thread.

I'll throw out a Red for anyone who's still interested in solving it.
/RED/ Kinzo was alive at the moment the family and servants knocked on his door to ask him to come celebrate Christmas.

>> No.16327994

>>16327934
With that new Red, it is just plain obvious the outcome is being shot with a device on the door/doorknob.

Let´s follow on that.

/Blue/ a Mechanical device was planted on the door. The idea is to trigger it by force with the Axe hits on a certain point. Demons Proof on the device btw. Thus making Krauss the culprit.

/Blue/ An alternate truth is to have the gun attached to the door with a wood support shelf of some sort, break the door and trigger the gun with a silencer attached to break the noice while forcefully attempt to unlock the doorknob. Thus another Krauss is the culprit theory.

>> No.16328081

>>16327994
I thought that Red truth might get things going.
However.

/RED/ No mechanical device was planted on the door.
/RED/ When everyone went in to investigate, no such contraption was found by the door or anywhere in the study.

I will concede that Krauss is the culprit though.
/RED/ Ushiromiya Krauss killed Kinzo. Genji was his accomplice.
Now you just need to figure out what Genji's role in all this was. Why did Genji lock the door from the outside earlier? Why did Kinzo not respond to the knocking and yelling of his family, when he would usually tell them to fuck off and leave him alone? I think you're axing the wrong questions.

>> No.16328143

>>16328081
Ok, lets try to gain some momentum.

/Blue/ Before the discovery of the body or actual assassination, Genji delivered some sleeping pills to kinzo. Maybe that was intended as Kinzo could´ve needed some rest or maybe Genji for some reason needed to betray his master and delivered some sleeping pills on a beverage like tea or beer.

>> No.16328180

>>16328143
You're along the right lines, anon.
Of course, it had to be Genji. Kinzo trusts no one else to mix his absinthe. Genji mixed in some sleeping pills and made sure he saw Kinzo drink it. It was an easy job. All he had to do was have Kinzo fall asleep head-backwards in his chair. He could've positioned the body that way if necessary, but there was no need. Kinzo drank his absinthe and soon fell into a very deep slumber in his seat. Genji just had to position the chair just right for the trick to work. He then exited the room and locked the door with his special key, as established.

That's right,
/RED/ Kinzo was sedated at the moment of his murder. This is why he did not respond when being called upon by everyone.

Now you only need to find out how Krauss shot Kinzo through a locked door.

>> No.16328218

>>16328180

Ok. Then the task seems to be simple enough. To blues will make the trick.

/Blue/ While Krauss was using the hole made by the Axe, he took grip of the gun hidden on his sleeve. The gun had some sort of suppresor to lower the noice.

If that one doesnt work and in case that gun wasnt a normal gun the blue is as follows:

/Blue/ The gun was planted on the DoorKnob. Carpentry knowledge was needed to tweak the DoorKnob in sush a fashion.

/Blue/ Also, if time was important for the murder to occur as planned. This applies for both Blues provided, It was needed to be done at midnight for christmas firework noise to hide the gunshot. About this, if murder occur on Rokkenjima, I am unsure on how they would ignite the fireworks if all of them were together when it happened.

All of those Shannons deserve to be violated repeatedly in whatever manner you can actually violate Shannon in.

>> No.16328276

>>16328218
You're right in using the carpentry knowledge. However, it's been used differently from what you think.

/RED/ Krauss did not have a gun hidden in his sleeve.
/RED/ No gun was planted on the doorknob.

Hah, I actually like your fireworks solution, but the main fact is that EVERYONE heard the gunshot noise. They just never assumed it came from Krauss. With everyone gathered there at the study, they all heard the gunshot, and seeing as it would be impossible to shoot someone through a locked door, everyone assumed an outsider must have done it. Everyone assumed some trick was used with the window, or that Kinzo was murdered earlier in the day.
This trick made sure that nobody suspected Krauss. Quite like his father, he left everything up to the roulette and took a giant risk.

Only one part of the puzzle remains unsolved, and you'll solve it by asking yourself why Krauss asked the servants to fetch him an axe, instead of just knocking the door down. Remember that Genji was in on the whole plan. Also, carpentry knowledge and a plan that was set in motion a long time ago.

Didn´t expect that. I´ll need more insight then.

/Blue/ Krauss had possession of the gun before the hole on the door was made.

/Blue/ Krauss was in possession of the gun after the murder.

/Blue/ The gun was inside the room when the body was discovered.

Also for the fun of it, lets get some small bombs theories going on.

/Blue/ The Axe was the gun, Just one bullet was loaded on it. When the wooden axe arc landed on the door on an especific spot, the gun on it triggered. The angle on the place it had to land was the proper to give the direction needed to reach Kinzo´s head. With Genji´s carpentry knowledge to tamper with the axe and Krauss sportmanship training it could be possible with enough preparation.

>> No.16328394

>>16328341
Small bombs it is, anon.
The axe was the gun, that was the entire trick.

Kinzo was sedated but alive when everyone came to rouse him. Krauss sent the servants down to fetch an axe. Well, not AN axe, but THE axe. The axe Genji and Krauss had been working on for a while now. By sawing out parts of the axe, and putting in a gun, they were able to manufacture a perfectly working axe gun. Krauss of course tested it multiple times in the forest to make sure it worked.
Genji being the head servant, none of the other servants questioned him when he grabbed the specifically prepared axe from the shed. HE Handed it to Krauss, who wailed on Kinzo's door three times. They had been very well prepared. Kinzo was in just the right position. On the second stroke of the axe, Krauss shot a bullet out of the axe and shot through Kinzo''s head. A third strike of the axe opened enough room to open the door from the inside.

As everyone heard the shot, they all went to investigate. Nobody for a moment thought that the axe would be the murder weapon.

You should know anon, that I love small bomb theories. It took me a while to steer you in the right direction, but the answer was quite simple in the end, really.
Kinzo was shot dead in his study, locked from the inside. His window was locked from the inside. His door was locked. No gun could kill him through a locked window or a keyhole. The only other solution had to be the only other object that entered the room before anyone else did, the axe. The axe was never there to open the door and save Kinzo because everyone was worried that Kinzo didn't come down for Christmas. The axe was the murder weapon, a gun cleverly disguised inside of it, and shot with precision at a predetermined target, with the help of Genji.

I think I mentioned that there was a Blue that came really close but I was able to deny it with Red with some wordplay.
Krauss did shoot Kinzo through the door, but he didn't pull out a gun because everyone would notice. He didn't shoot Kinzo while sticking his hand through the door, he shot him with the axe that was already in the door.
I was afraid my mystery would be solved too easily, but my Reds threw you off the scent for a while. Still, good play.

>>16328435
Well, like I said, it takes imagination. I think that reworking an axe into a usable gun still falls under the realms of belief, and Knox' rules, while a mystery contraption fixed onto the door would break those rules.
I'm happy you enjoyed the mystery, anon.

It was hard being the Game Master this time around. I was afraid it would be too obvious, but instead the players went into entirely different areas than I expected, and I sort of had to steer you guys into the right position. That's the fun of it though, I guess.

Anyway, the Christmas Mystery is finally solved! I hope to be back with another mystery soon.
Whole boards are incredibly difficult and time-consuming to make, and they last for multiple threads. So to the anon who complained that there are no longer any game boards, I'm sorry but this is just more manageable. One-off murder mysteries seem to work better. I'll throw in a quick poll just to see.
