What would be the best way to say "Would you like me to take your photo?"?
I'd just like to know because I'd rather not seem anyone fidgeting cluelessly over a photo if I end up going to Japan again. I would assume "写真を撮ってあげますか" to be it, but I'm not sure.
Also, is there any better way to ask where a place is? My friend told me everyone says "どこですか", but is there something just as/more commonly used with a closer meaning to "Do you know where" something is?

Sort of makes me want to take a break from the language. I've been on-and-off learning for around 3 years now. There's just too many rules to remember when it comes to conjugation. Think I'll stick to default dictionary vocab for now.

Ignore those idiots, Flyable Heart is a masterpiece. They just dropped it 5 minutes in because it was too hard for them and have to justify it somehow.

Anyway there's no plot-enforced recommended reading order, the routes are sufficiently disjoint you can read them in whatever order you choose, so what's important is what you'll enjoy the most. Personally I think this means Yui route first because it's the best.

For vol. 1, nope (822x1198), and I remember dropping the manga for the same reason back then (I believe it was the first manga I had tried to read when I was still a beginner). Now I can read it pretty much fluently so it doesn't bother me as much though. Vol. 2, 4, 5 & 6 are all in good quality but 3 is the same as 1 sadly.

I'm transcribing it as I'm reading, I'm planning on doing it for the whole volume, so unless someone shares good scans until then I might share it with DJT.

Hey just started with hiragana. Using Heisig Method - Remembering the Kana. I'm following the guidelines or "lessons" in the order that they're given and I've got three questions about it:

1) The author says that the learning order isn't the dictionary learning order and that the order that he proposes - the one where I'm going back and forth like a choose-your-own-adventure book - it supposed to help me remember better or learn faster... or something. Problem is that his cutesy texts to attach random as fuck meanings to help remember are 100% useless to me since my brain doesn't work that way. Am I going to get fucked down the line if I don't memorize it his way or can I just learn it my way and not worry about it down the road?

2) Is the actual learning order important? Since the author says the way he wrote the book is out of order, will I just have to relearn the order eventually? AKA am I better off doing it "alphabetically" right off the bat so I don't waste time?

3) Does this book contain errors? I'm on lesson 4 right now and he has a little test to see if I can remember some of the syllables:

Problem is, as far as I can tell, he has not covered ねyet and I'm wondering if I skipped a step or if the author is just dumb? I tend to skip over stuff when I read/learn, so I want to make sure I'm not fucking up so I don't have problems down the line.

I can't offer any advice on Remembering the Kana's contents, but honestly, I think you're wasting your time. If you just bruteforce it through realkana (or whatever people use nowadays) and writing it down a bunch of times, you can get kana out of the way in a day or two. Use Chiitrans Lite, it works with pretty much everything and you can turn on furigana for maximum lazy mode. My only issue with it is how janky the hover info is, but I've found that in every fucking text hooker, because none of these cunts know how to program. Inefficient. RTK just assigns English words to the symbols and even after you complete it you have 0 Japanese knowledge and can't read anything. Whereas with the vocab method you pick up words immediately, immerse yourself in content much earlier and can tell apart kanji by context (e.g. you learn 食堂 and 食事, ergo 食 is food related). There is really no reason to ever do RTK unless you find it extremely hard to differentiate between kanji.

No, it doesn't "doesn't matter". Isolated kanji study is by necessity isolated, and therefore you are delaying actually studying japanese. What do you think will teach me more?
Reading a difficult Japanese VN where I'm stuck every 2 sentences with tons of words I don't know or baby mode VN and manga?

Like I've read all NHK easy news over the last few weeks and while it was fun to read and understand everything while reading fluently, I get the feeling I don't improve cause they use simple grammar and vocabulary (I literally knew all words except satellite and radiation and stuff like that)

It's either too easy or too hard.
Well at least that's what I think, maybe reading easy stuff will still help me or is reading the hard stuff more efficient in order to improve myself?

Keep in mind that it's normal that when you pick up anything for the first time it comes off as being way too difficult, but once you read through an hour or so of it you get used to the authors writing style and it feels a lot more doable, make sure you're not just dismissing everything from the get go because of this, pick one thing that's compelling and looks normal difficulty wise and give it a chance for a while

I got tired of typing out readings for kanji to get the kanji into the text while transcribing it, so when the text indicates the kanji by number, I often replaced it with an X just so I didn't have to type it, since it'll be easy to automatically replace the X with the right character with a script. was looking for some advice on catching up with Japanese.

I took a japanese class that essentially followed genki I, but due to schedule conflicts I haven't been able to take second semester which covers genki II. I'll be taking second semester soon (it starts in three weeks), but I haven't practiced all too much. I remember all of both hiragana and katakana and, i just need refreshers on most other things.

I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion of which would be more advantageous, either:
-Going through genki I
-Going through Tae Kim's Guide
I feel I'll remember vocab as I go along and do some readings, it's mostly the grammar and kanji I need to go over again.

any suggestions on which I should dedicate myself to over the next few weeks?

I read a lot of books (mostly technical), but things stopped sticking after the Internet became ubiquitous, since my brain doesn't differentiate written input from the Internet and from books, making me doubt everything equally and shut the mindless absorption system I had when reading in my native language as a kid.

I guess my only way into this whole "feeling the language" thing would be having a conversation partner so I start to unconsciously acquire compound tenses and discernment when it comes to prepositions.

Is there a good way to approach production in Japanese? I've been reading, mining, going through flashcards, and writing down words for around a year and a half now and have all but neglected actually trying to express myself in the language. I've been trying it out blind recently and have had some limited success, but even I can tell that some of my choices are awkward or flat out wrong. Should I look toward lang-8?

Lang8 is great for more advanced stuff, but it takes a lot of energy to write a full entry and corrections feel kinda impersonal.

I don't know when I started but it's been several months. I like Shizuru the best but I guess you have to do Kotori's route to get to her so that's what I'm doing.

I guess I don't want to be spoiled on specific details but I'd at least like to know how long the road ahead is length wise relative to how far I've gotten. Given all the shit that happened in the forest with no explanation I know I've probably just scratched the surface.

Ok, well there are 5 heroine routes, each one is maybe ~1/2 the length of the total common route, and after that there's even more content. So a fair bit longer to go, I remember there was a guy in DJT who read Rewrite for several hours every day for a year and a month and had a small existential crisis when it ended because he'd devoted his life to it for so long.

it's phrase which is often comedians use to urge on their co-comedians to continue in case of a joke missing the mark, where they pretend to think the joke isn't done yet and go "and?" forcing.the co-comedian into a situation where they have to think up a way to save the joke on the spot. sometimes it gets used multiple times in a row
It's not only used used by comedians or jokes but that's where it originates from. for the comic you posted you can safely just take the "and?" meaning
