I'd like a phantasmagoria game as well. We will simply have to wait to see what ZUN comes up with.

If the next one is a normal game, I hope ZUN explores extra-dimensional characters like Hecatia and Doremy more. The fact that there are plenty of worlds other than Gensokyo, the Moon and Earth makes for endless possibilities for characters.

Of course, I would also like to see PC-98 characters again, no matter how unlikely. Heck, I'm still hoping for somebody from Seihou to show up every new game but that will probably never come true.

IN style teams with Reimu and Marisa as one of them, leaving the remaining ones with characters who have not had many appearances in other works:

Shou, Yatsuhashi+Benben etc. Maybe throw in Flandre into one of them to satisfy a bunch of people.

Can someone explain to a complete retard (me) what touhou is? I understand that it's a bullet hell style game, right? But how do those relate to the anime girls that you see in all fan based parts of it? (videos, fanart, etc). Where's the correlation? Is it like how 4chan is the girl from Yostuba? Or any of the board personifications?

16 should be more classic, simple scoring gimmick with mainline story. So, ddc but with proper story.
I want teams, reimu-kasen, marisa-byakuren, futo-miko, and sanae-kanako-suwako (3 character team somehow).
Whole game should be less hard than lolk but one of the harder games on average.
Brings back a pc98 character for extra or for 5th stage.
