What's the best way to go about visiting Japan. I really want to go sometime around early summer 2009 but am not really sure on how to do it. Should I do a tour group, or should i find a local online to meet me somewhere? Halp

Yet another very valid Japan thread saged by basement dwellers.

Well, As an Australian I got here on a Working Holiday Visa. If you're from the US, you don't have that option. Might be best to come as a student, or just on a 90 day tourist visa.

You may be best finding a group of friends who want to do it too.

If you have a degree, get a laughable English teaching job and have it pay for an extended vacation.

If you're in school, go via your school.

If you don't have a degree and aren't in school and are nevertheless not too poor to be blowing thousands of dollars on a vacation, you can probably pay someone to answer your question.

Actually they have a dire shortage.

Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, or Cambodia are better bets.

This whole theory that /jp/ exists only as a VN/Touhou board is a bit of a pipe dream. I admit I am one of the VNfags and like the abundance of threads but it is quite obvious that when they made /jp/ it was inclusive of not only the /a/ split stuff but also more general Japan related stuff. It is in the damn description of it.

>> No.1582061

>>1582041
/jp/ is the runoff board because of what was happening to /a/ (which incidentally the split didn't do anything to help). This topic is still /trv/ material. Read >>1. I hate the name since it attracts people like the failure of the op.

On a personal level, I'm okay with cultural threads as long as they aren't COREAN STRONG threads. But that don't change that this is the board created at the 11th hour for VN and Touhou.

>>1582061
Again did you even read my post I said that much like you're saying this was made first and foremost as a Touhou/VN board but it was made to be inclusive of Japan related topics. It is called JAPAN/GENERAL it is not strictly a Touhou/VN board because Moot wasn't about to make a new board just for that specificly.
