From December 2010 to August 2012 /jp/ had no moderation whatsoever. 2010 /jp/ appreciated their janitor (hence "meido") because he kept shitposters at bay, but by the time he (same person, though nobody knew at the time) got back to work again, the board was already composed mainly of said crossboarding shitposters, and as you imagine they weren't exactly happy to be told to fuck off.

So they started calling him names. The -y/-ie suffix is just a common method of belittlement (compare: aspie, normie, crossie), and those people weren't exactly a creative bunch.

When /jp/ got actual consistent moderation for once, they starting calling him "New Shitty Janitor" or "NSJ" at first. That one is mostly only hated by the shitposters who gave that name and is sometimes portrayed alongside meido.
Then there were several periods of high and low moderation including that time the mod/janitor freaked out and deleted all the pages of the board. I can't remember if that was the same one that was publicly removed from his position. That was around the time janitors started being called "janny" to disassociate them from even "NSJ", since that's around the time moderation started being not so great

This is a relatively new phrase made by those very people trying to fit in. The people shitposting were /jp/'s userbase, although they started rallying at warosu's ghostboard after the old archive died to be butthurt about being banned. For some reason some of them went insane and started posting just to get deleted and whine about moderation, being one of the reasons you can't delete threads anymore, though it wasn't only this board doing it.

The crazy shitposting group that evolved, and started calling the "latest" janitor "janny" and started some imaginary war in their head where they could make him angry just by shitposting and spamming hateful threads and posting pictures by that artist who drew that weird cat. At the end, they started editing images to put tiny pictures of the cat in them, thinking the janitor would browse images on the board and see them and then get mad, and that people would repost them and the janitor would get mad when he saw them again, and that he'd become paranoid the images he had had cats in them or something. Then they turned on warosu and started spamming the ghostboard 24/7 until it got removed.

Meido was a forced meme by aoc, a psycho who is still a janitor despite breaking every rule in the book and guides his decisions by ridiculous double standards.

The other jannies are clueless idiots who were assigned to a board they don't understand and with a population and board culture they despise. Crossboarders and their blatant disregard for /jp/ posting standards and habits were a problem that, along with others, contributed to the death of this board. The blatant attempt at coddling such users shows pretty well what are the priorities and the origins of the current team. I guess antagonizing the primary userbase as "crazy shitposters" makes the new people look better so let's stick with that.

And the janitors were literally setting their lives aside in personal crusades against those so-called shitposters. If you read the janitor chat logs that were leaked a year or so ago, you'd know this.
