Even within Japan they never toured or played shitty clubs, they catapulted from Sakura Gakuin.

Nah. Idols either have to grind for years in shitty clubs or they have to do degrading things like handshakes or sometimes meme variety shows, or both.

It's one thing to smile and give it your all on stage when you've got hundreds and now thousands of fans all cheering you on, it's another to do it to just dozens or even just a handful of fans. Babymetal never experienced that.

Of course they put in some hard work, like venues without air conditioning and Moa falling on stage and Yui flying off the stage and the show still going on. It's still "some" hard work though, it's mostly privilege and luck compared to a real metal group or a real idol group.

I know what you mean. I got emotional seeing how random metalheads embraced them but Slipknot was on a whole nother level. Not surprising though. Their show is not for the faint of heart. Extremely brutal.

Yeah SlipKnot is still badass though, they're not as hardcore as they used to be back in the late 90's and early 00's but they can still get a crowd to be brutal with both old and new songs, plus they have great production. Basically you go to SlipKnot for fun and a hardcore mosh pit.

Two things SlipKnot and BabyMetal have in common is being fun :)

I'll add though that there were nonstop crowdsurfers and I saw quite a few people leave the front area because they looked like they were gonna die. One girl went to the floor and started crying a bit but she got back up and continued on.

I'm comparing BM to the top of the mountain. I expect BM to be closing festivals on the mainstage one day but they have a long way. They are doing great though and I expect it eventually but I think the nature of the band will never let it be brutal like Slipknot. It is every bit as nuts as any band could be. Especially for a huge festival.

I was decently close but I had to watch for crowdsurfers the entire show and security was blocking the rails a lot because of it though. I've seen them multiple times so I was very happy that the average metal fan wrnt nuts for them. This one hot girls literally crowsurfed nonstop.

I'm of the mind that wants to see them get as big as possible though so I was very proud.

The only bands bigger than them are the longstanding super popular metal bands which is a small number. The girls love it.

It's a look to the future. I'm sure some people are interested in that observation. And I'm slightly interested in Slipknot only while BM is my favorite band all time.

True there's not very many big bands now, metal itself isn't even very big. It's unique for something like BabyMetal to take off. They were the chosen ones :3
