I like Ran. She's motherly, she just doesn't have any outstanding quirks, so you generally don't see much joke fanart with her.

The biggest quirk is the pedo for Chen thing, but even that doesn't get as much art as you would hope and fap furiously to.

The whole Supaa Tenko doujin showing how she lets loose when Yukari and Chen are out of the house by streaking has led to plenty of joke pages and fanart.

She also by default is the straight man to Yukari's antics.

There's a severe lack of Ran Rage. She's always so happy, sometimes sad, but nearly never angry.

The main reason she's so powerful is because of Yukari.

If Yukari died or something all of a sudden, Ran would lose a great deal of power that she has, since it's not actually hers.

I think the main point is Ran should not be out fighting. It's her job to help take care of the boarder when Yukari is napping/fucking Rinnosuke/invading the goddamn moon.

Yukari was sleeping when you meet Ran in PCB. So even without Yukari's will/power, Ran is an EX-level boss.

Some have brought up the point that Yukari could still transfer power even while asleep, but it doesn't make much sense considering that Yukari wouldn't have chosen Ran in the first place if she weren't strong already.

I would do everything with Ran, goddammit.

When they make a touhou anime Ran is going to be awesome. The episode before the Yakumos show up will have a teaser with the next episode being "TENKO! THE YAKUMOS ATTACK!" and it'll be slow scrolling bottom to top shots of Ran charging her powers. The Yakumo arc will revolve around Marisa and Reimu fighting Chen, then Ran, then Yukari and eventually nobody loses and they all go out for tea. Ran can transform into a fox and claw their faces off and Yuakri will just sit there floating on her gap laughing fufufu.

The next arc will be the filler arc where everyone goes to a festival/beach and crazy ecchi things happen.

That may be true, but:

Ran fought some humans in PCB extra without being told to do so by Yukari. That's why Ran was ONLY an Extra Stage boss.

She's an underrated character without anything noticeable about her. She's the mother figure, but that's basically everything that stands out about her(excluding tails). If Yukari didn't steal her theme song she would have been known for that and her tune would be remixed to hell and back.

I don't think the levels in the game correspond to power levels. If anything, they just gauge their abilities in danmaku fights.

Always thought that was a bit odd.

Even in the PCB music box room Zun confesses that Necrofantasia was an arranged version of Ran's theme but that he thought it was "different enough" to be considered its own song.

Your reasoning is flawed.

Ran being "strong" doesn't imply that she's at any arbitrarily defined level of strength under any particular set of circumstances.
