a bit more durable than common plushies, they aren't as tightly bound so the material doesn't wear out as fast, and the stitching usually is pretty good.
I can't imagine anyone who cares enough to get a fumo would really stress the fabric heavily by playing roughly with it often though.

I know a couple of the anons in /fumo/ have considered making their own fumos, and I would like to go about making my own for Choronoire from Witch craft Works. I'm interested in what type of material would be best for the plush itself (and clothes), as well as whether or not it'd be useful to use a program to make a pattern, or whether the pattern making is done free hand.

I think some sort of felt and cotton mix would be best! I am going to put the fabric over the fumo I have. Then I can estimate what size it should be. That's what I'm doing, at least. The eyes are embroidered. If you're ever interested in touhou or fumos you can ask us about that, too. Witch craft works is a good manga series, assuming that's what you're talking about. I suggest you try your best and ask questions along the way, if you have more. Don't feel bad if it takes 2 or 3 tries!

Yes, the balls are actually cream puffs which you make from choux paste, and are most likely filled with a pastry cream or ganache.
Caramel is poured over top, and from what I can tell that's spindled sugar at the top. Whoever made that knows their stuff!
