In rare cases (as with Ixrec's Moon and GundamAce's Never7) this leads to a complete retranslation to do the work justice. The fact that I don't know the quality of the product intended to release is enough reason for me to not support the kickstarter. In this specific case, they're using Ixrec translation with revisions so this is more than enough reason for me to not support the kickstarter.

Lots of translators are better than Ixrec, you must not be looking very hard. And the only porn game SP has released so far has been Nekopara with the rest being relegated to "wait and see" status, so questioning the future of 18+ releases may be somewhat justified.

Because people who don't understand Japanese and cannot write in English should never attempt translating anything.
Just compare C+C votes on vndb and EGS and you will understand why everyone hates him: things he generates are horrible, mangled abominations which have nothing to do with original but completely ruin any perspective of game in the west. Capital gains tax is entirely incorrect in every way and doesn't even make sense. Aside from really bizarre financial situations, you can always afford to pay capital gains taxes because they're taxes on GAINS. Anyway, it's supposed to be property tax. Also, it says literally "Here/This place isn't gold rolexes." As in "people around here aren't walking around with gold rolexes." As in people aren't rich. //See CCB2013 -GHS

//立ち上がった瞬間に抱きつかれそうだ。
Embraced on what it feels like the instant I stood up.

//はやい。そして脆い。
So quick. Also, dangerous.

//昔、近くのアパートに有名なバカップルが住んでいたが、別れたりくっついたりしていた。
Once upon a time, in a nearby apartment there dwelled a famed Syrupple, who would keep splitting apart, and then getting back together and back again.
//See CCB2005. Hum, but there's no apartment complexes around him as far as the map seems to hint (not that it's very clear) (not that it's relevant) -GHS

//近所に怒号が届くほど口論するのに、ヨリを戻すのはあっという間。
They would quarrel loud enough their screams would spread in the neighborhood, and then they would reconcile in the blink of an eye.

//……まさか自分がそうなるとは。
...unbelievable I would ever end up like that.
//Paraphrasis: Aw, They Do Love Each Other. -GHS

//そして冬子は俺の前で恥ずかしげに『キレイになったよ』などと言います。
And then, Touko said "I have made myself all clean" to my face, all embarrassed.

//太一「うん、そうだね」

//最高の笑顔を向けた。
I direct my very best smile at her.

If I understand your point, I'm not sure that's the best example, since surrealism is more of a visual thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to devalue the so-called "school romance," especially not a well written one. I just mean this in the sense of "What could possibly be difficult to comprehend about a story like this?" It just strikes me as something that would be rather straightforward in what it does.

Well, I wouldn't say that the content is particularly easy to grasp either way, but it's presented in Lynch-like surreal way where half of the time you are not even sure what you are looking at (not to mention MC is an unreliable narrator, and you can almost never take anything he says at face value).

So I have no idea how you could possibly make sense out of it if you also have translation errors to deal with.

>>13805137
Ehh, it's been almost ten years since I've read it so I have trouble coming up with concrete examples, but it's definitely not a school romance.

First, the world is stuck in some sort of weird time loop and only a select few characters exist in an otherwise empty town (though they try to act normal?). The school they are attending is completely weird, and doesn't make sense, they used to get tested and scored for something (that I assume was the level of their insanity).

Anyway, I think the protagonist is just insane, and you have to pretty much piece your story from various delusions of a completely broken mind. It's almost impossible to tell what you should take at face value, and what is just crazy stuff he believes in.

I compared it to David Lynch because the experience kind of reminded me of the Mulholland Drive, though the two have nothing in common context-wise.

When you can buy games lasting you 300 hours at Steam for the price you can buy an eroge that lasts you 8 hours, it means it takes you 300 hours until you buy a new eroge instead of 8 hours until you buy a new eroge.

The gaming market is just so oversaturated with games that take too long to complete for people to buy many new games. Eroge companies get to practically live on those who only buy eroge and nothing else.

>Random question, but does anyone know who it was that started the "Support JAST's official localizations of Nitroplus games" thing? Some TLWiki guy? What does he do for the scene?
It was the delete message for all Nitro+-related pages on TLWiki after JAST announced the Nitro+ partnership, after TLWiki was contacted for cooperation, but before the cooperation was announced.

Moogy was the one who made up the message and told us to use it when deleting the related pages. Technically speaking I was the first to use it (after confirming with Moogy whether he really wanted to use such a peculiar message guaranteed to cause lots of discussion), but it was soon followed by mass deletions from other TLWiki admins.

Moogy is the founder and main admin of TLWiki, the mass deletions were carried out by either TinFoil (editor and TLWiki admin) or Nagato (hacker, not sure if he was an admin at the time), with the knowledge of the staff of most active Nitro+ projects at the time. I was just some random dude that never contributed much (I fixed some minor stuff in Chaos;Head which was how I got involved) but I was a TLWiki admin at the time.

Actually, everybody else agreed with the choice of message (we needed something that implied something was going on without actually confirming anything as nothing was set in stone yet), and even I personally didn't really disagree - I just didn't want to be personally responsible for any potential shitstorm that could ensue because of it, being the first to post it, so I double-checked before we went past the point of no return.
