Gimme Choco was released on Feb 25, their album was released on Feb 24, and they announced at their Budokan show on March 2 they would play in Europe. They were originally playing a small stage at Sonisphere, no LA/US show, and Brixton. That was all added through demand.

Very cool high quality close up performance of BM's intro(CMIYC) at Rock on the Range. You can see them fighting through the technical difficulties and Kami band very visible frustrations while trying to keep it going and keep the crowd alive simultaneously. Then Mikio busts out with the best sounding solo yet when he's finally good to go. And the dancing looks extremely sharp. Crowd is really into it. Great video.

As for the Rolling Stones article, they aren't making it (just) for fans of BM, it's for their general readers. It needs to appeal to the masses, and Metallica's name accomplishes that. If a metal website is known for not caring about Babymetal or being unashamedly against them, they're not going to lure the Babymetal fanbase over. At most they might get a "yeah! right on they suck!" from their own userbase who already go on the site regardless of what they write. They might write one article and then focus on "real" metal news.

Support Babymetal, and not only do you get page hits from the Babymetal fanbase, but you also get the regular visitors & members talking shit in the comments section, probably getting a few Babymetal members to sign up & white knight them.

I know it's a hypothetical question not directed to me personally, but I don't care either way. I don't hate them for not genuinely liking, or like them for giving them coverage.

I guess to some degree maybe I should be thankful that they recognise them as being metal, but since they've gone full-Kami band you have to be in denial to see or hear them live and say "no that's not metal at all, it's synthpop with guitars".

Controversy sells, but just reporting on them is enough to garner that. Advocating for them helps them for that article but hurts them everywhere else. They have plenty of comments saying they got soft, are shit now, and that they lost a fan. Most businesses try their best not to do that, and correct it when they do.

I was asking you personally though if that's how you feel about the way they view BM. I think they are extremely genuine.

Especially Metal Hammer. They are much more reputable and even flew out to see them at SSA. In the article the writer was extremely worried because he found out they aren't even respected by the Japanese metal community. He was starting to think Metal Hammer fucked up and "backed the wrong horse". After the show he felt completely validated and said even though it was a crowd full of idol fans, BM made them act as a metal crowd and took it in a way of bm turning people into metalheads.

I find this whole concept of a music site having a uniform view about something, a "fanbase" and all, very foreign to me. That to me sounds unprofessional.
