Man, I love that show. Infinite laughs.

The original Japanese version of the show is an hour long and features commentary from Takeshi and his guards, interviews with the contestants, stuff like that, but as far as I'm aware it has never been subtitled in English so unless you speak Japanese you're not going to get very much out of it. The British version is 20 - 30 minutes long and cuts the show down to just the action. It's Craig Charles doing the commentary (the dude from Red Dwarf).

There are a few winners (something like six or seven out of 300 episodes) and one which is declared a tie. But you watch it to see people get demolished, not to see them win.

I used to watch this with my housemate when it was on TV and we made a drinking game out of it.

So true, that's what I love about it to me it seems as if they don't care how far they manage to get their just in it for the laughs, also another thing that I really dig is how rugged and worn-down the equipment is whereas something like Total Wipeout all the equipment is clean and if they fall off the course they fall into clean water?!
