I think you can use three 35.6cms on your BBV if those are your strongest guns.
So 1 Plane and 3 guns.

Kirishima just swap out Sanshiki(Type 3 Shell) for a recon plane.
Hiei get a recon plane and a radar.

Also raise your Air power to at least 13x or else you won't get superiority.

Ditch that Saiun, you don't need it and you shouldn't put it in a big plane slot, ever. Get another green plane instead. Put your green planes in your carriers' biggest slots. Getting air superiority is first priority for a map like 3-4.

Not too impressive lower levels but they are probably the strongest class at higher levels.
Doing 2-5 and my Ashigara who got Chuuha'd by an elite Ru literally 1-shot it back in return. Not to mention the BB-level damage my others dished out on the other elite BBs. Green-T helped I suppose, but they would have been destroyed by the DAs regardless.
Closing torpedoes even without maxed stat are pretty impressive too.

Mathematically speaking, isn't stockpiling only worthwhile so long you amass (decently) more than you would make from natural regen in a given event's duration?

For example, at HQ 97, your regen cap is 25,000.
In 2 week event, you would make 20,160 from regen if below cap the entire time, meaning if you stockpiled less than 45,160, your efforts have been wasted?

The extra res would be a few min LSCs and chances are I'd get maybe 1 extra Maruyu every 2 weeks from that. That's not something I attribute enough value to to burn myself out after playing this for a year and a half.

Not necessarily. Regen will keep you playing at a slow pace in order to either not hit zero or break even. With just 10k over your cap, you can burn through it all in an instant and get back on regen. You're then a little short of 10k ahead had you entered on regen alone.

Events can easily take as many as six digit resources even if you have perfectly average luck. Getting this much in two weeks is no problem at all though. You're going to be back under natural regen on second day with event clear in tow anyway so there's no real problem.
