Yeah, the constant noise probably stems from the piano constantly playing a very low D. At least that is my guess.

So, newfriend question for anyone here who actually produces Vocaloid music. I've never thought about until recently, but I want to and have questions about how the software works (haven't bought it yet).

From what I've read, I'm assuming the software basically consists of a sound library containing the vocalist's samples (consonants, vowels, diphthongs, etc., on various pitches) and a simple piano roll editor with text, to write the vocal part. What about the instruments/background? Do producers usually work in a DAW with their own VSTs then bring in the singer in an audio file exported from the Vocaloid software?

Vocaloid is uber shit in regard to interface.

I recommend you compose your melody in a DAW along with other instruments. Once you're done, export a .MIDI of the melody and import it into Vocaloid, making the necessary adjustments and adding the syllables.

Once you're done, export it and put back on your DAW of choice.

Also you can pirate it before buying, if you want... Pocaloid works okay.

Massive is generally heralded as baby's first vst, not just in vocaloid but in using-only-acomputer-to-make-music in general. There's tons of presets available if you aren't into synthesis, and if you'de like to learn there's almost endless tutorials on youtube.

I know this is futile. but if you want to do some sketches of existing characters (and yeah, we're talking vampires, werewolves and the like here), I'm an author who can't draw for shit, but I like having concept drawings so I can visualize my character designs and see if they actually look natural or sane. It's not as cutesy a project as what you're doing - in fact, it's gritty-ass edgy deconstruction - but if you like vampire chicks, that's one thing I can promise to deliver (the project has like 60 characters, half of which are female and 25-ish of which are supernaturals). Idealistically, a visual novel itself, the creation to nuture a project would be remarkable.

Realistically, a comic is the best result if you're serious with your characters and story, if you desire to warrant something out of it.

Commitment and being committed are two different things despite being the same word, you can be comitted to something and don't have the commitment to exert and execute what you conceptualize because you see it as a hobby, which, I surmise, certain anons do see it as solely a hobby and will not share the same passion as you to create a visual novel. Unless, you find likeminded individuals who are willing to help with your VN project.

I though it was a little too sharp. The hi-hat I was using already sounds too artifical and the boosted high frequencies make it more so and distractingly in your face. My guitar and keyboard also sound like they were sent through some sort of a heavy filter, like an old radio playing by the side. So they've lost all punch. I have to agree about the wider soundstage though, the theremin section sounded more ominous with it. I feel if I ever record this in studio it's going to be great. It was very interesting hearing my music mixed by someone else and I appreciate the time you put into it, thank you anon.

I've got plenty of original content, in fact here's one now. This is what I'll show to an artist, it's not a final product.

I can say that, however. Today is a very good day for the future of my business:

I learned of just how retarded my people are! Speaking to someone who was witness to the creation of Katawa Shoujo, I learned that the people from /a/ who wanted to make KS were legitimately some of the most retarded individuals I've ever heard of!

I have no experience with making a VN, I have years worth of experience in writing and smut, some in art (Enough to get the idea tan artist) an idea bout music theory for my VN, a plot, likable and cute characters, a plan for lewds (Especially since I'll be able to turn all of those lovely Otaku on.)

But basically I learned from the KS'informant, that they had:

1. Did not save all of their information to one spot or person regularly.

2. Had a convoluted writing process. They had 3 papers to make 1 VN, and they kept going back and rewriting because they thought their story was not good enough.

3. They had more than 1 person writing the story, as in they thought having a team of writers in an amateur project was the way to go.

4. One of the writers, died halfway, and instead of anyone decided to pick up the pieces, they thought "HEY LET'S JUST MAKE THE CHARACTER OF THE DEAD GIRL, A MINOR CHARACTER, YEAH, WE WANT TO HONOR HER DEATH BY SHITTING ON WHAT SHE MADE"

5. They did not have access to her computer, so they could not get to her work. This goes back to fucking 1, and this would make sense for making a character minor, but still...you really think this is a good excuse?

6. They thought they needed to create a fucking BOOK, before they would make a VN. They wrote a book of the VN, before the VN. As in, a book that no one here has seen, that the public will not see, that you will have to actually work on transposing into a VN's form. Extra work for no reason other than your stupidity!

None of them, the entire team. None of them thought that maybe-maybe if they want to make a VN, they should base a majority of their research on VN's. No one seriously said "You know, if we want to make a good VN maybe we should focus on what makes a good VN, by researching VN's?"


But that is good for me, cause apparently my idea for writing is really, really simple, and requires far less time than 5 fucking years.

I'd tell you to learn anatomy but judging by those shaky, thin lines it looks like it's confidence you lack the most. I don't think there's really much else one can do about that except gaining experience by drawing a lot. Copying from reference should help.

The distance between the two eyes should be about one eye. Look at your drawing with a mirror every now and then. I can't tell if you kept changing your mind about where the breasts should end or if that's meant to be shading. If the former, use an eraser, and if the latter, use hatching.

It always bothers me when people say this about anime eyes, especially when they're not shaped like real eyes. It's the same with the "hand is nearly the size of the face" thing when applied to anime characters with oversized heads and differently placed features.

A lot of styles have only about half, or even only the middle third of the actual eye area drawn. If you were to space it based on that, it'd look like their eyeballs overlap, or, in the case the head was drawn to accommodate oversize eyes, it'd look like their features were squished in the middle. The reason eyes get those large gaps anyways is probably because people try to preserve the distance between the eyes and the side of the head. I think it's better to just say that heads are too wide for the eye type in some cases. Narrowing the head would fix the spacing while preserving distance to the side of the head too.
