When she doesn't twist her face into expressions it should never make, I think she can actually be pretty. Refining her looks and keeping up her genki performances could have made her popular in the long run. It seems to me that many girls go for variety thinking it's an easy way to gain fans and exposure. Most people understand that, but fans do need to support the girl financially, rather than just PR and the odd election ticket, especially since PR means absolutely nothing from a foreign fan.

Kawaei is what could be be defined as business baka, she might not be really book-smart for obvious reasons but she's not dumb either, otherwise she coudn't have availed herself of this trait to get herself spotlight and popularity on cozy variety shows. SKE's shows are on an upward swing compared to the old days. Ebisho and Ebicalcio are kami-programs and I feel that the chemistry with Okubo is something comparable to AKB and the Bad Boys at last.
NMB's Geinin III season couldn't live up to the previous seasons in my opinion, but it's just because they inexplicably removed the sit-com parts while extending the ad-lib minigame for the entire length of the episode, from what I saw fans weren't happy with the changes either.
Also, the Baito shows by the sister groups are much more interesting than AKB's. For one thing, it features the members experiencing jobs firsthand instead of just going around hiring random people to do menial work for AKB (even now that they got Team Baito on the program the content still remain unchanged). I'll highly recommend watching some episodes of NMB's Meccha Baito by the way.
