Christian 2hu would turn the human village into a fortified fortress.

Yukari, getting mad at the humans for not playing along, besieges it, poisons the water, cut the food supply and starves the villagers.

After nearly three months of almost no food and water, the villagers surrender, but Yukari and her vicious youkai still massacre them.

Because there are only about hundred of humans in the villager, the youkai have the bright idea of splitting the heads of the villagers (after beheading them of course) and put them on spikes, giving the impression that there are more humans killed.

Actually before the extreme nip Christians went around burning down shrines dedicated to Shinto gods/pissing off the Shogun they were pretty chill getting followers at a steady pace.

After Christianity was outlawed many of the followers went underground following the faith until they could do it publicly again.
