This was pretty fun. Looked great, sounded great and some of the card patterns were really cool. Altough I didn't 1CC it, it felt a bit on the easy side.

A lot of the parts felt really familiar from the original games but there's nothing wrong with that in a fangame. Kinda like seeing some old stuff remixed a bit.

It was quite odd that you have to death bomb to activate the trance/border state. Also what bothered me was that the collectable blue shards look like bullets and always scared me a bit.

Alright, gave it a try. It's very polished for a fangame and the character designs are top notch, but the game suffers from PCB syndrome, in that you have so many resources that you don't know what to do with them. Not even the final boss resisting bomb damage saves her when you can easily enter her stage with like 7 lives. The final boss' non-final cards being unbombable, by the way, is atrocious, I failed my first try at Hard 1cc because I had no idea how to do her mirror laser card ("what if we took Shou's spinning laser card, added more lasers to it and gave you less space to dodge") and lost like three lives to it. Still, once you plan out the stages and conserve resources, the game should be on the easy side.

The power limiter gimmick makes you a total monster but costs you a bomb, which doesn't matter all that much because the super mode lasts very long and getting point items during it gives you double the usual amount of bomb/life fragments, so you'll get your bomb back no problem. The power limiter completely trivializes some cards, especially these that push you off from under the boss, since it massively widens your range and allows you to hit the boss under circumstances you normally wouldn't. Speaking of boss HP, it's great to see the premature ejaculation problem that the Last Comer/Power Plant bosses had was fixed, now you get to dodge more than one wave of the new girls' cards before capturing them.

Boss designs and stories are amazing, refluffing Rlim Shaikorth as a lost shikigami that conquered water is a splendid idea (the huge bleeding worm who is totally not lost and is floating aimlessly on a giant iceberg out of its own will is also one of my favorite Mythos horrors, right next to the alarm clock moon and the two-tailed blind turtle that is very confused that some weird people are using its tails as breast pumps) and the freezing gimmick on her second and last cards are great. She also has the best stage, the delayed shot crystals are a great gimmick and the stage music is very fitting. Stage 4 also doesn't disappoint, it has the cutest card in the game (time capsule is a timeout card that freezes its timer when you go to its safespot, no cheating allowed!).

Stage 5's tsukumogami fusion thing is fun but the fists hidden within fists and the weird trilobite bullets aren't. The haniwa's midboss gravity card is easily the single worst thing in the game. Final boss is supposedly that lesbian queen with the 1,000 handmaidens, so I'm surprised she didn't turn out as suave as Miko. I also don't like her last card, the final pattern is literally Fujiyama Volcano tier and the two before it aren't much better either. They should've made the bullshit mirrors her final card. The rocker snake over on Extra didn't get the memo that Extra bosses are supposed to have gimmicky fun patterns instead of total jerkass noncards, but her cards themselves are fun.

Lastly, it's a right darn shame that the Heike-themed game doesn't have a Heike crab. This was so shocking that I cried, and my tears wet the sleeves of my robes. I then told some folks on the street that Emperor Antoku is now in a Touhou game, but her underlings don't include a loli crab Shigemori, and they all cried too. Their tears also wet the sleeves of their robes.

I don't think I can keep playing Touhou like this. I think I'll shave my head and become a monk.

JynX (the guy who made those April Fools PC98 remakes that he never actually released) also made a series of danmaku games heavily inspired by touhou.
The first game acts as a prologue to the second and third games.

So I played the first one and the stage designs are absolute bullcrap. I love the boss battles though, and the music (except for Yabusame(?)'s theme.)
Also the final boss' name is really long.
The second one is a lot better in terms of design but is really glitchy and sometimes it just crashes.
The third one is my favorite. The designs are cute and the stage 5 boss theme is eargasm.

FutoA is a semi-homing spread shot character, she uses delayed-shot arrows, and when you go into super mode you get "arrow charges" that you unleash when you unfocus for huge damage across a wide area. Think mini-bombs, but they don't actually clear bullets, and they have three distinct charge levels. FutoB is a fixed option type like IN Remilia/MoF MarisaC, your option is Tojiko whom you reposition by stopping shooting. In super mode, Tojiko hunts down targets on her own. FutoC has a redirectable/focus-to-fix-direction shot like IN Youmu/PCB SakuyaB, plus a small wind barrier that hits around her, when you go super, your wind barrier slows down bullets.

It's a pretty darn good game.

hey man, it's a pretty fun game if you don't abuse your resources: I was literally laughing and enjoying like a kid with all the crazy stuff that was happening. Besides, almost every touhou gives you a fuckton of resources and ginmicks to work with so I don't see the problem there.

I for once played the game for the first time without even knowing about that hyper thingy and bombing only when I was about to die.

Anyway, this gave me such a good impression compared to TD and DDC. Fuck ZUN, his wife and his son, he should have stayed a drunkard forever while making great games. Finally, THAT MOMOHIME, TWINTAIL PINK HAIR MOMOHIME, FUCK YEAH.

PD: I'm all up for total jerk patterns because that's the fun part of an STG.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good game too. It's great that they're learning from their mistakes in TLC and MPP, and they're especially good at avoiding the "here's a bunch of unrelated bullets" cards that most Touhou fangames love dishing out. I actually like the fist-fist-magatama-trilobite anchor-fist card that the Stage 5 boss has, it feels like she's getting desperate and just unloading whatever she has on her arsenal instead of just spewing random bullets.

Otherwise, though, everybody has a distinct bullet style, which is good because one of the strong points of Touhou is the fact that you can guess which character has a particular card even if you've never seen it before. I also like how there are pretty much no giveaway cards, except in Extra where the focus is less on dodging stuff and more on knowing how to approach each card. Spellcard lengths also feel right for the most part, except the bullshit mirrors and Yata's "you'll die instantly if you don't have sound on" card, but maybe I'm just exaggerating these because I'm bad at dodging them.

But really, the biggest disappointment is the lack of a solid final card along the lines of Scarlet Gensokyo/Resurrection Butterfly/Virtue of Wind God/Flying Saucer (I know that they like the "three bosses come together to give a final push" thing but come on Momohime's last attack sucks) and that there were no crabs. The danmaku is otherwise very solid, and the gimmick is actually pretty good (especially for scorers I guess but I play for survival). I'd take it over UFO's color changing bullshit any day of the week.
