Why do secondaries seem to think that Gensokyo has to either be incredibly moe, or stupidly grimdark? Canon is somewhere in the middle. The dark parts of the Touhou setting aren't explicit, and tend to be more implied horrors than anything else. To be honest, even Akyuu chronicles does not cover all youkai species, only some specimen you encounter in the games as examples, and you are going to have a lot trouble distingushing a harmless fairy from a truly dangerous youkai like Rumia.
