It wasn't very expensive buying all the separate parts for a MDD3 body from Volks store, something like 26000 jpy? But that did involve traveling to Japan so um yeah. Volks only offers pretty expensive EMS shipping, dunno how it is with the USA resellers though. She's not as pale as minato imo, so regular probably. Battle panties could get a little expensive, but it's (basically) a swimsuit, thighhighs and gloves with some details sculpted and added on.

If you're any good with basic sculpting, I'd suggest just buying the flat white bits (socks,gloves,etc) and making the "metal" bits out of a clay sanding them smooth, priming, painting and attaching.

Luts has a few long red wigs for around 20~30 that you could pin and trim.

It's certainly not worth 1800USD unless the fucking body and head come with.

230 for a wig is highway robbery, too.

Well, to cast in resin you need a sculpt first usually. For 3dprinting, you need a model.

most of her stuff is really basic geometric patterns, so it wouldn't be too hard of a beginners project.

Is there any general opinion between chinese cheap versions and japanese expensive versions?

atdoll seems cheaper than tokyo doll, although you have to keep in mind to include all that wiring, trimming and makeup. And I guess it is what is inside and you can't see that is important for how long the stuff will hold before breaking.

I actually intend making something like this soon, but on a smaller doll.

I was experimenting with the silicone painting stuff a month ago.
It was messy to say the least, but workable.
I might combine it with toilet paper or something like that, a usual strength giver for latex work like masks. Works really well. Should work even better with this.

It is just the holes I am worried about working with. Not sure what I will do there.

I can't help but wonder just how many of us buy these dolls purely as a surrogate for sexual intimacy, compared to how many of us buy them for emotional surrogacy (ie. having something to talk to/care for); or how many of us just like cute things and spend hours playing dress-ups and making cute poses, and then how many of us tick "all the above".

Haha, thanks. My hand-eye co-ordination is genuinely crap, so I need to be ultra careful when I'm handling my girls. The ankle wasn't even the worst thing I've done, that award goes to dropping one of my girls heads whilst changing her clothing, and it hit the corner of the table on the way down. I've always found them to be more flexible when pushed to extreme angles and also look better when fully bent than a dollfie's knees. From certain angles with a sitting Dollfie you get these large gaps like pic related. Sure they can be hidden by good photography, but I suck at that and I'm the one who's going to be looking at her 99% of the time.

But me being a leg enthusiast means I'm probably giving undue adoration to Obitsu bodies on the account of knees alone when I know their bodies are no better or lagging behind in other areas compared to dollfies. Like tits, and bellies.

I used to do a lot of models when I was younger but never quite got the hang of putting decals on but I want to at least have a go at putting this on. At least Volks included several in case you fuck up, and if I really can't get it right i can always get my brother to do it as he's a lot better at this than me.

Here's a pic of her in the Senbonzakura outfit, apart from the eyes, I'm not entirely sure what you need to do to swap them out and I don't plan on leaving her in this until I have a body stocking so it doesn't stain. I really like this outfit, though the gloves are a bit fiddly and I can't get the hat to stay on her head properly.

Remove wig
Remove headcap
Remove eyes and glue/putty
Surround eyeholes with new putty
Place new eyes in

Those molding erasers that artists use work well if you don't have any eye putty. You can re-use the glue from the original eyes by gently heating the glue with a hairdryer to get it just a bit sticky.
